Just ordered a drum kit

Just ordered a drum kit for my son for his birthday. I quite fancy learning to play myself, any of you guys out there play drums as well, what’s the best place to start ?

Cheers

Re: Just ordered a drum kit

good luck dude. drums are heaps of fun

about 8 years ago my parents bought my little brother a drum kit cause i got a electric guitar

and i played them just as much as he did. He got 6 lessons from a drum teacher and thats all he's ever had and he's better than alot of drummers i see that play in local bands.
i have never had a lesson just watched what other drummers did and thats how i learnt

now days i play more than he does and i have bought a much bigger drum kit that we both share.

most people are suprised i'm a guitarist when they see me play drums.
i guess a little bit of that is down to natural rhythm

Re: Just ordered a drum kit

My wife's got a Pearl Export kit (8-piece). Very nice. She plays pretty well, and it looks like loads of fun. I can keep a pretty decent straight beat, but I can't do fills or complex rhythms to save my life! I'd like to learn how to play better, but I have enough to learn on the guitar as it is.
