Enter your interests, "guitar" for example, and zip code and they'll hook you up with a local group. If there isn't a group in your area and you're feeling ambitious, you can start your own group.
I'm in 2 local groups in Baltimore. We get together once or twice a month, usually in small groups of 6 to 12. If we find a larger host venue, we have unlimited sign ups.
The organizer of the Baltimore Guitarist Group is a total beginner. He decided last August that he wanted to learn guitar. He bought a Seagull acoustic online and while he was waiting for delivery, he started a meetup group. Think about it - what better way is there to meet and jam with musicians of differing skill levels. The newbies can learn from the veterans and veterans can share tips with each other.
