Re: loonatic on youtube
I love the comments I get off this, yes, i was part of this, there's actually a thread on it in the tech section i think, my mate clive wanted to do it, and the end result is amazing.
Also, don't forget a lot of people bought 777DY's and swirled them, which, is just as bad really if you're talking about modifying, which essentially this is.
I've also taken a blowtorch to a BSB to make it more burnt.

Re: loonatic on youtube
I remember this from the other thread. If you listen to these guys talking during it, it definitely seemed like a controlled process/labor of love. More power to them. I wouldn't do it, not because of any other reason than I'm too lazy, their end result was fantastic I have to admit...

It was controlled, wet blankets at ready to quickly put it out after a little bit of fire, although i remember going to the hardware store and asking them "hat's the most flammable stuff you have"
All the black on it is burnt glue, once that was scrubbed off the finish underneath was untarnished in places, in others a nice "browned" burnt effect.
Seriously cool, the guitar plays exactly like it did before, and I still want it!
Kind of like a BSB on a paint finish!
For anyone trying it I would advise caution, as you are turning it intoa fireball, and it needs planning and making sure you can put it out quickly! Also, there's a lot of carefull removing of the glue residue as well

Yeah, I am loving the BSB, that does take a steady hand to do though, the burning if the flame is to near isn't aesthetic, but it's using a kitchen blowtorch, and you need to stop just before it chars...
Still, I am planning a build that involves a BSB like finish, so I am happy I've kind of practiced on the BSB as now I know what I am doing!
Incidentally, the BSB I refinished was to hide the wear on it, as in exposed wood from picking and general playing that looked a bit ugly

Re: loonatic on youtube
I found it now. It reminds me of "The Hulk" mod Benjamin James did on here awhile back, and got the same kind of reactions.
I like it. Personally, I wouldn't do it to my guitar, but it looks alright.

Re: loonatic on youtube
Now THAT is a finish
I probably wouldn't have the balls to do it to my own guitar, but it looks pretty good at the end.
My favourite part of the vids:
'So, does he want it to look likes it's burnt from playing it and stuff?'
'Nah, just burnt from being on fire.'
That made me chuckle.
I can't believe some of the comments on the vids though. It's a guitar. There's a fair few of them about. It's not like defacing a one-off art masterpiece. If anything, burning it increased its cool-factor.
A little lunacy makes the world go round.

Haha one guy was going on about "sacreliege" etc. lol!
I wouldn't do this to my guitar ever, but it does look alright in the end.
