more camera questions

I am thinking of getting a new digital camera. looking to spnd around 600-900. Any ideas, canon or naikon, and what should I be looking for. I am pretty much an amature, but looking to take a few courses. I am now thinking SLR as well.

I'm a Canon man, but it's kind of like the mac vs pc war, they are both great, just depends on your preference. When I hold a Nikon, it feels funny in my hands, that's why I chose Canon. Plus, I think Canon has better glass than Nikon. I think the Canon Rebel is in that price range, but I don't know for sure.

Re: more camera questions

yes, depends on what you like. they are both nice but i too prefer Canon. if you don't think you will get into photography that much, most DSLR's will work for you. just like guitars.....do you go for the more advanced when starting out or something middle of the road? you can always get a used one online if you want. i have had good luck with it. most people take care of their stuff. i would recommend the XTI by Canon but personally, the 20D by Canon is a MUCH better camera and one you can use for a very long time. good luck and have fun.

For 600-900 I would probably get a used 30D or a used 20D and have a couple bucks left for a lens or two.

I'm a Canon boy as well. I got the 400d (or rebel whatever you americans call it) for starting out, I was looking at the nikon d80 but it just didn't feel right in my hands. Try them both out.
