New Orleans disaster

Im watching the news, and I just wanted to offer my condolences to all the people who lost everything, or worse, someone.

I know there are no official numbers but the images and reportings are devastating.

How could they not foreseet it? Why is so much chaos out there? Why is the help taking so long to arrive?

There are many questions that need to be answered, but for the moment I just want to offer my sympathy.

I too would like to offer my condolences to those who have suffered through this tragedy. Apparently Mothar Nature has given us a shake of her power ever since the tragic incident in South East Asia.

Re: New Orleans disaster

It's terrible. I don't understand why so many people stayed to try and tough it out when they were warned and notified to evacuate. When there is no rule, there is chaos. Assistance is arriving, but it can't be immediate to everyone. This is huge and priorities have to take place. This is going to take big planning.

Re: New Orleans disaster

it's sickening to think about not only the personal loss, suffering & damage but the inept planning, budget cuts for these type of emergancies (that have instead gone to bombing sand dunes) and what appears to be a complete lack of leadership during the rescue efforts from the top down. it's unconscionable they would evacuate people to a superdome that is without supplies, medical assistance and armed guards.

bless & give these folks the strengtf to endure this... ... glen

Don't hate me for saying this, but I think the US Government is caring more about what goes on in Iraq than what's happening in their own country. These are just my personal opinions.

In that case, might as well close the entire topic yet

My thoughts and Prayers to those as well. The company I work for has just donated 1 million dollars to the Red Cross for the relief effort.Texas is helping out with shelter. Florida is sending Law Enforcment. Its good to see the United States actually unite during these times of tragedy.

Re: New Orleans disaster

It is beyond belief how this could be let to happen (and KEEP happening 5- days afterward) They need to get the boots on the ground there NOW and get control of this. People are dying and being killed. What is the IDIOT in the Oval Office thinking....oh ya...he's doesn't think Sorry Glen, hope I didnt go over the line there. They have known for years that the Levy's could only withstand a CAT 3 storm. This thing is embarrassing for our country.....I just can't believe the HUGE lack of leadership and preparedness on display here. We are supposedly prepared for the aftermath of a terroist attack........what about all the money spent on just that??? I am beside myself. My heart goes out to all the victoms and the families of the victoms. (not to the criminals causing all the additional problems) They ALL need to be shot dead

yes it is very good to see! BUT what about other countries. maybe it would be nice for someone to help us out. when other parts of the world need help we are usually the first ones taking out our wallets, usually not asking for the money back. maybe we are getting some help but i haven't heard anything yet.

focusing back home here, almost everyone i know has donated and i did so yesterday. i also donated to the HSUS (humane society of the united states.) there are so many animals that don't have owners now or owners of pets that need help with their animals and that really pains me. i almost wish i could be down there to physically help out.

Re: New Orleans disaster

this is an American problem, not a worldwide one. Other countries don't need to support our dysfunctionality, nor should we ask or demand it... glen
