Try to hit a tree and not another motorist, and say hi to elvis for me...

Seriously, a skyline for your FIRST car?

The current Skyline in Japan is the Infiniti G36.

Re: nissan skyline

Well, for one you can't import them anymore, unless you're going to file the paperwork for the EPA yourself. Motorex in Cali was importing them and charging about 80K for a used one. They are no longer importing them for some reason and with the Skyline due to show its face in the US next year, I would wait.

But, since this is going to be your first car, I would suggest you get a Civic Si as your first vehicle. Unless you're one of those spoiled rich kids whom mommy and daddy buys anything he/she wants, then try asking your folks to give you 70-80K for a 500hp car b/c that's how much the skyline is going to cost in the US when it's released, and yes, it's going to be a Nissan and not an Infiniti. Infiniti was rather "disappointed" when Nissan said the car was going to be Nissan through and through.

Re: nissan skyline

A big part of the problem is that American safety standards are much more harsh than in Japan. Therefore a lot of work has to be done to them before they are legal in the States. Basically the whole support structure has to be 'beefed up' as well as emissions, etc etc. Way more trouble than it's worth to look like a 'Fast and Furious' guy. They are incredibly sweet rides though.

Not true Mad Max...
A skyline comes stock with 500 Horsies, to find a like new condition GTO with that kind of juice, plan on spending the same amount as a new Skyline.

I'd wait for them to be officially imported.
OR
Drive up to Canada, our own LGM works next to a shop that brings them in to Canada and they restore them and re-sell them, but only in Canada AFAIK.
Of course, then it's just a high speed burn across the border...they'd never catch you!

Re: nissan skyline

Move to Sydney Australia. Skylines grow on trees over here...or should that be "get wrapped around trees..." Hmmmm... So many teens getting them these days over here. It's taken the fun out of it. Alot of these teens here end up destroying their cars and the lives of other people though. So yeah, keep the fun on the track.

They're a fun toy. I have a highly modified one, and track it frequently at Oran Park and Eastern Creek Internation Raceway.
