Nah, we just use absentee ballots. Both Kuwait and Peru don't allow the military to vote at all due to conflict of interest. Just mention that as it became aware to me recently, interesting.

Be happy that there are regulators for your food, medications, and surgical equipment. There are more near misses than you think.
Brought to you by one of my favorite Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, who at the time was a Republican!
Anyone who equates the President or the USA with Socialism should really go study what socialism really is! Yes, we have a few "social programs" but thinking we will become "Socialists" is, in my opinion, flat-out ignorance and paranoia. Our economic system was created by free-market capitalists. The reasons we Americans enjoy many of our everyday freedoms is because the Founding Fathers recognized that free governments have better economies. The reason we affect so many nations economically is because we HAVE these freedoms. The reason everyone wants to denominate in and own our currency is because we HAVE these freedoms. We are stable. We are, compared to others, transparent in our dealings. People can trust in the stability of the United States of America.
Not to mention the fact that our western mentality of questioning authority would, in my opinion, make us psychologically incapable of accepting a socialist society. I think every man, woman, and child in the US would fight REAL socialism to the end!
If you want to see how a REAL socialist country functions, go to Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, or (the real biggie) China! Here's a telling fact: Have you ever chatted with anyone IN those aforementioned nations on the Internet? I didn't think so!
And taking from the strong for the benefit of the weak is hallmark Sun-tzu - ideal maybe if you're considering "class warfare" but I think we're beyond all that. I'd like to think that if anything good comes of this world crisis its that we're all linked together; between the rich and the working Joe to the link with the factory worker in China to his counterpart in America - or anywhere for that matter! No matter where you are, this shrinking world puts us all in it - together!
Maybe in 10-20 years, all of humanity will be better off as a result of the hardships we feel now. You never can tell exactly what the future will bring.

i've not read all the previous posts (should have but oh well) I felt the need to comment anyway...Obama still has not provided a birth certificate, has laundered money in names of voters that swear to have not donated to him, and accepted donations in higher amounts than allowed; and many other things illegally done in his campaign. Mccain is not a saint by any means but come on. This is not right. there i've said my peace

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.
spooty, I can't speak to the money issues, but I have been hearing about the birth certificate controversy. My take on it is this:
If there was a single razor thin reason (even just a possible one) to make him ineligible to run, the Clinton's (and other Dem nominees) would have been all over that like nobody's business during the nomination process. It sounds pretty interesting reading all about it on the internet, but if there was even a hint of truth to it, the Clinton's are absolute savages when it comes to politics. He would not have gotten it past them.

I can't speak for the others, but there is actually a reasonably strong Russian presence on the internet.

As there was a buzz about McCain not being a natural born citizen. Both candidates have had their citizenship questioned. But nothing ever came of it, so no need to worry.

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.
McCain was born overseas in a military hospital (Panama I believe) while his father was serving on active duty. What they are saying about Obama is that he isn't a US citizen because per Hawaii law (at the time), where he was born in 1961, the law stated that in order to be a US citizen either...
A. Both parents have to be American (his were not, mother is but father is Kenyan)
B. One parent (in his case, the mother) has to be US citizen and 5 of those years of citizenship had to be over the age of 16. She was only 18 when she had him, thus didn't meet the criteria.
Hence the talk is that he is not an actual US citizen.
Not saying it's true or not, I still stand by my comment above, but that is what the buzz is about.

McCain not a citizen?!? That's like that episode of "The Family Guy" where Peter found out he's an illegal Mexican.
I'll give John a pass considering all he's done for our country.

Oh yeah, the Russian thing was a slip. I guess it's a USSR hold-over in the old memory banks.
Yeah, the Russians are all over the Internets, especially if you consider the online porn industry!

Here is an article about the McCain thing.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23415028/
As I said, both candidates have had their citizenship questions. In McCain's case it was whether he was "Natural Born." Regardless, the issue was dropped for both candidates.

Fair enough. But like I say, the boundaries here have become shades of grey and it's unclear as to what somebody can and cannot talk about.
Also, I'm sure you'll of read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/07/us...sition.html?hp
...and it's pretty save to say that he
definitely
understands the perspective of being somebody in the US
But we'll not go there.
