Also, this should put to bed (or prove correct) the rumours that Bin Laden is physically ailing or even dead. I'm sure a tape will surface sooner or later and you can guarantee that if he IS alive then it'll most definitely be aimed at the new president. Obviously Bin Laden isn't the be-all/end-all of terrorism but hopefully you get my point.
Like I say, this isn't me being cynical, I just hope that U.S. citizens don't become complacent for a second.
CNN announced last night that there is a major action in Pa-kistan right now, bombing the suspected Al Qaeda locations. And that one of Obama's first agenda's is to ramp up the pursuit of Benladen, and take the fight where it should have gone before it got derailed into this f'n quagmire.

It is certainly nice to see so many people happy, and full of hope for the future! It's nice to see just how much support he has already, and globally not just here, as he'll face challenging days ahead. It's a great day, and it has been a long time coming

I was small, but he was a BIG man with BIG hands. At least that's the impression in memory.
I got to slap box with Mohamed Ali right around that time, but that's for another thread
that's some serious namedropping
I'm awestruck.
I did get to see Clinton up close once, but not meet him, when he came to Delft for dinner. Hillary wanted to see the main Church on their way from Rotterdam (the 50th Anniversary of the Marshall Plan) to The Hague.

Regardless of who had won, I'm holding out to see what he does before I decide if this election was a success or not.

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.
Truthfully, with the Democrats having a filibuster-proof Senate and congress anyway, there would have been virtually nothing that McCain could have gotten through anyway. So I say good for the Dems, now they have control of the whole ball of wax. That means we will get to see plain and simple what they can do and I look very forward to it. I am hopeful that there are good things to come but we shall see.
What really needs to happen is that we need to get away from the two party system and allow independents a voice but that is probably the ONLY issue on which Dems and Repubs agree on, not letting anyone else get a voice that could challenge both of their power holds.
Here you go Dems, let's see what you got... (crosses fingers for luck...)

They needed 60 to break a filibuster, they don't have it. [not at 4am when I heard that anyway]

No, I think they're like 4 or 6 people short of filibuster proof, but I think some of those are independents...so it's pretty darn close.

Dems have 56 with 4 in the balance, but I believe Lieberman is still officially included in the dems number.
