It was a good country while it lasted.

Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the new U.S.S.of A. The United Socialist States of Amerika.

Kiss your liberty, your freedoms, and your guns goodbye.

The good thing is, my kids got to see a relatively free country for a little while. Soon and the 1st and 2nd Amendment is trashed, maybe they'll remember what it was like back the the day when you could speak freely. Own and carry a handgun.

Side note, Btw: In Pennsylvania, you currently need no permit to carry a hand gun openly. You can wear a gun openly in a holster on your belt and walk down the street, into stores, malls and restaurants etc. No permit or license required. I'm sure this wont last. But, if your jacket accidentally covers the gun, and you don't have a concealed permit, you are then in trouble.

Good thing we have guitars to distract us. And cash jobs to avoid some of those pesky taxes.

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.

Hahaha, are you serious, dude?

Ooooh no, we can't have any of this.... assuming that what you're saying is true, I might as well leave the country. If I can't have my gun on me at all times, I might as well just stop breathing and die a much more painless death than is surely in store for all of us.

In fact, Barack Obama will probably take every cent away from every one of us and then decide what to do with it.

...in all seriousness though...

Yes, good bye to the America that we've known to be in critical condition, with its dirty secretive agendas and scams, and hello to a brand new America, where we can all learn to LIVE life instead of simply pay for it.

Respect and admire for what? He hasn't done anything yet. It's all meaningless political rhetoric until he actually does something as President.

I judge a man by his actions, not his words and until I see action I will neither deify him nor will I demonize him.

ETA - All I'm saying is don't be naive. He's a politician and a good orator but don't buy into the hype. He has the potential to do really great things for this country and he has the potential to do really bad things to this country.

For goodness sake, get over yourself! Your posting regarding this have been ridiculous, along with many of your other posts where you have tried to create trouble. It is clear that you have not learnt a thing since your suspension!

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.

I for one am very much looking forward AND apprehensive about what will become of this. I think the stronger person was picked, and he has the right mindset about him.

Things are truly in a mess, and it is terrible that things like the economic crisis, and wars overseas with budgets far too great need cleaning up.

I really hate that what happens in the United States affects the rest of the world just as badly, and I believe that no country should have that power or persuasion (if that's the right words to use). I have come to accept that it is the way things are though.

I hope this new Government that will form at the start of next year will be able to make the right changes to the United States to clean up things, and get the country back on track.

It is always a concern when one party has an overwhelming majority in all houses, so I hope that they remain central enough to do what is right for all.

Good luck for all of us I say.

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.

I'm proud of my country today. I was a kid in northern Florida in the mid-to-late-1970s and I heard the n-word used in public, on the streets, by whites, against blacks. Now in my lifetime we have elected a black man to the highest office in the land.

Peace

Who all do you guys think will be part of his cabinet?
Wade, Why are you even putting in your two cents in this thread? You're not even old enough to vote. Your lack of experience definitely shows in every single comment you've typed in this thread.

So I would like to see this thread continue to be about Barack Obama, instead of terrorists... because, granted that these terrorist regimes are and ever actually were a threat, us taking precaution because of their existence just supports their reason for existing. It's the whole point to be afraid.
I wouldn't pay attention to Wade's comments. In all honesty, you can't take a 17 year-old kid too seriously, considering he isn't even old enough to vote.

We weren't attacked by a country. Terrorists are a shapeless group of individuals, and it's the way of the world these days. The whole world is dealing with it in various forms. The way to deal with it is not to play into taunts. They WANT that. And they want martyrdom. The way to make them happy is to fight them directly, it just re-enforces their rhetoric.

It'll take a broader, more worldwide approach to deal with terrorists, like improving security at airports worldwide, improving our immigration processes, improving international relations and then re-enforcing police forces worldwide. It's worldwide. And all of that will require greater diplomacy, trainining, and support, and our recently elected President may be the better of the two candidates for that job.

I try to avoid political discussions because, to me, it's a bit like arguing about the weather. But I'm slowly getting pulled in.

+1, he's a first term senator and hasnt stepped a foot in the oval office yet and everyone thinks hes god recreated. Dont get me wrong I hope with all my heart he changes the world, but he hasnt done anything yet. Remember, every president starts with a clean slate when they first start, its the corruption thats all around that he needs to defeat, in my opinion thats easier said than done. Lets wait and see what he does and judge on those merits before we praise him as the best that ever was. (atleast thats what Ive been hearing all around the chicago area)

Re: Obama - Officially next preident of the USA.

I find it incredulous when citizens of the opposing party criticize the President and blame him and only him for every law or budget decision that turns out to be a bad idea. The Commander in Chief becomes the fall guy, yet he never actually creates the legislation. Sure he can draft a bill and suggest it to Congress, but there are 535 members of Congress that must enact and then vote on the bill before the President can sign it into law. 10 years ago, the country was ready to hang Clinton. Today it's Bush. In a sad sort of way, I'm almost glad McCain wasn't elected. He's done too much good for the country already. To have his name and reputation dragged through the political mud by the media and the opposing party, just for the sake of being president, would be an injustice to a man who has served as long and as honorably as he has.

The U.S. Government was originally created to be by the people, of the people and for the people. What we have today is an ever increasing bureauacracy whose sole ambition is to rule the people, regulate the people and tax the people.

Name one thing that you can buy, one job you can perform or one thing you do in everyday life (besides worship, prayer or religion) that isn't someway regulated by a local, state or federal government agency. I'll buy the first person to find an unregulated item / activity a steak and a beer (both regulated by the USDA, the U.S. Treasury and local liquor laws of course).

*rant off*

God Bless America.
