Photobucket users - Attention

Recently when using photobucket, somehow either 'the' website did or another malicious content that propogated that website mananged to install what I would call perhaps 'spyware' on my pc. I was only using photobucket at the time.

I had an alert of an infection and the 'spyware' was claiming to be anti spyware software, scanning for threats.

It had installed a 'sysguard.exe' file.

I managed to get rid, so thought I'd give fellow photobucket users a heads up.

Hmmmm.....I've had a photobucket account for years and it's never dropped anything into my computer.
What anti-spyware on your computer detected it?

I too, have been using for years, without anything being dropped into my computer, until a few nights ago.

It was flagged up as an infection, not specifically spyware, but it was obviously something of the sort. Not sure if it was windows own detection or the AVG.

Thanks for the heads up. Sysguard is often a trojan, or a form of the sality virus. Definitely something you don't need on your PC!

Thanks for the heads up. Used photobucket for years and also never had anything like that happen, but there's always the first time for everything! Nice to be aware. Cheers!

Re: Photobucket users - Attention

I highly doubt it was from photobucket they are big business and it would be the worst thing if they were spreading viruses or spyware.

Those anti spyware programs are not fun.... a quick fix to that solution is restore to an earlier time in windows, then run software to get rid of it...

Good luck

It was from Photobucket - it was from an advertising pop up on the Photobucket website. There are lots of big business that get infected. And as I said in first post, I've already got rid of it.

I've been using it daily since 2002 also and this was the first time. There was nothing else running at the time. It came from there, from adverts. There is always a first.

Photobucket is redirecting me here....

http://antispywareprolivescan.com/pr...hp?nu=77075648

My antivirus also detected this... Bloodhound.Exploit.213

So yeah...it's photobucket. Firefox complains everytime I go there.

This just started happening.
