Shots look great as always guys! I Haven't been getting out much to take photos with the cold weather and all. Here are a few recent. No huge editing, just right off camera:

shredmaster, cold weather for me is king (at least for my photos)

Here's one of Mer de Glace, the longest glacier in France:

Carlos

I think i know you are using HDR many times, i would be interested to know what your workflow is as well as what tools you use to enhance your images (PS Plugins) Same goes for others here.

I am in the process of looking/buying the new Nik Suite. Not sure if there is any better stuff for color correction/noise reduction is out there.

Re: The Photography Thread

dragsternj, I use HDR in 99% of my landscape shots to correct exposure, since I don't carry a graduated ND filter anymore.

Workflow to get the initial image is something like: convert RAW to 16-bit TIFF in Nikon ViewNX 2, create HDR frame and tone mapping in Photomatix 3.0 and export it to 16-bit TIFF, open the Tone Mapped image in Photoshop CS3 and merge it with the frames I used to create the HDR by using layer masks.

After that, I remove any nuisances, like dirt marks from the lenses (very common if you're shooting when it's snowing) and start color processing using Channel Mixer. I'll play w/ the controls until I get something close to what I'd get using my old Fuji Velvia 120 film. Then minor contrast/brightness adjustments, noise reduction (Noiseware Professional plugin, the best out there IMHO) and, if necessary, sharpening adjustments.

When I'm happy with the results, I'll save a JPEG in my storage.

I think the Nik suite is great, but I wouldn't buy it myself since I can do everything in Photoshop. I created a lot of actions/scripts for it to automate most of my tasks and that works for me.

Here's a B&W work, also at Mer de Glace:

Re: The Photography Thread

Hey Distant, how did you like shooting a wedding? I like the third photo the best. The first one is kind of spooky.

Re: The Photography Thread

This is only the second one I have done (both for friends) I don't like doing them! Makes me nervous that I am going to screw up on their most important day, but since they aren't able or willing to pay a "real" photographer I figure they know they are taking a chance.

Funny you mentioned that first one being spooky, I almost threw it out, but out of the handful of pictures I sent to the bride so far this was her favorite. Guess you never know.

Re: The Photography Thread

Yes if the bride likes it then it's all good. Theres nothnig really wrong with the photo but it just has a slightly evil vibe going on. I have a few weddings this summer too so I'll share some photos as well.
