I'm going to help them with the fence to keep it in and make sure it stays in! I don't need enemies! There are enough bad vibes in the world!

I grabbed it first. Dogs chase cats right??? they just didn't secure it correctly! The police dang near begged me to file a complaint!

sh*t!

and BTW - Jen, they have a little tiny kid. He seems more protective than to harm her.

Jim you seem to be one of the most level headed guys on here, and obviously, very respectful and compasionate towards others, but in this case, you might want to consider what, might have and could possibly happen in the future. You don't want to stir things up with the neighbors, but you may be doing them a favor. If it happens again in the future, and a child is involved you will never forgive yourself for not doing something. plus a fine may keep these people in check better, it hits hard on the pocket book. chef21

You gotta do what you gotta do Jim.

Oh and btw, you just used my name and blew my cover. I tried Jim. I really tried to relocate you to a nice place with a nice forest in return for your ratting out those mob bosses, but you just blew my cover and I have to kill you now. Sorry. It's too bad too. I really liked you.

You don't have to file it today. You have I think it's a week before you're out of time. You might want to see if your injuries get worse (swelling, infection, etc.) and then file.

But I did the same as you. I said, well, poop happens. I was scrapped up on my legs, a few teeth scraps across my hand, but my baby was ok, and that was the only thing that mattered to me. So I let it go. I wish I hadn't have, because 2 other instances that dog tried to attack us again.

Good luck. But if you don't file, next time, make sure there's no life left in that dog!

there won't be a next time! I'll make sure it will not get out again!! the only way it will get out is if they let it out!

and again...it was chasing a cat, not a human. I tackled it! I guess that's to be expected to fight back. (right??) Every time I look at it, it goes the other way. Maybe....just this time, it deseves a second chance. I cannot help it, I'm an animal lover. I have plenty of left over poles, etc and I go help them with the fence now and the dog will be there.

I'll make another judgment afterwards.

sorry....I really shouln't have posted this. I'm such a DORK!!!!!

Love you guys n, gals!!!

Re: Pit Bull just attacked me

you can help w/ the fence but FILE THAT REPORT regardless.

you are being short sighted beyond description and absolutely NEGLIGENT in your lack of action. this is serious stuff.

it has a second chance either way... but you need to get this documented on record so it can be removed from another negligent human - it's owner - if the problem repeats itself. you are doing a disservice to yourself, the dog and your other neighbors, their kids & kids playmates.... glen

Re: Pit Bull just attacked me

Agreed that there's nothing inherently wrong with pit bulls, and that it's generally the owner, not the breed.

File the report. Don't be an idiot. However, you may want to state in the report that you think the dog may have responded out of fear and not innate viciousness.

Really, the report isn't quite the same as pressing charges - it's just an official statement that, for whatever reasons, the attack happened. If something happens again, and the circumstances are more clear cut, then it could make a huge difference that you have the report filed.

On the other side of the coin, if the dog bites someone else who wants the dog put down, and there is a reasonable cause that the dog might have felt threatened and was trying to defend itself, it may actually work out in the owners' favor that there's a police report on file that states that you think the dog might have attacked you out of fear, when you tried to break up a fight with your cat. Hell, you never know...

Either way, it happened, and regardless whose fault it was it should be documented. If nothing else, go in and talk with the police if you have any questions on the implications of filing a report.

Call the pound, if you haven't already. I'd even go as far as to take legal action against your neighbors.

I wouldn't mention that I grabbed the dog, though.

Really sorry to hear about that, buddy. Hope you heal up okay.

Not filing a complaint is a mistake, plain and simple.

What is it you guys don't get. A report was filled, the OWNERS called the cops. Jim just isn't filling a complaint charge. The dog attack is on record, that was accomplished by the OWNERS.

Jimmy, take a pill
