Pit Bull just attacked me

My Pitt retrieves also. I have had Pitts that would work cattle. I had one when I was a kid that when I would turn the horses out in our roping arena she would put them all back in the correct corrals. This same dog would come between my brother and I with many licks to the face and push us away from each other when were fighting. I could put my youngest brother in the yard and she would not let anybody but family or friends in. Not by viciously attacking them but by sitting by the gate. People apprehensively would reach over the gate to pet her and she would wag her tail, but when they would try to open the gate she would growl not viciously but just to let them know they were not welcome. Confused they would stop reach back over the fence and pet the dog and she wag her tail again but if they tried to open the gate she would respond the same. I will also add the worst I have ever been attacked by a dog was from a Lab the dog had my whole head in its mouth I was fighting for my life. I got up jumped the fence into my yard and ran in the house my Mom was freaked out I ran in my room and grabbed a baseball bat and went back. I beat that dog all the way down the street till it ran in its yard. I had 2 holes on the right side of my head one on my right temple and another just above it and one hole under my jaw that went up into my mouth. Bulldogs were bred for fighting bulls, Mastiffs were bred to guard property by killing or maiming Boxers were bred for fighting also.


Sorry for the rant. Jim you did the right thing. Its documented and with the situation that you were in I believe that any dog would have bit you. This just happened to be a Pitt. Heres to a speedy recovery.

A single, isolated incident does not disprove the whole theory.

Well, your parents probably don't know very much about pitbulls.

I know at least 4 people with absolutely loveable pitbulls. Haven't you ever watched the Dog Wisperer?

Pitbulls are bought mainly by idiots who buy them because they look 'hard'. These idiots are more likely to be mistreated. Hence pitbulls are more likely to get mistreated. Hence pitbulls are more likely to live up to their stereotype of an aggressive, fighting animal.

My parents know a hell of a lot. They've also judged a lot of shows.

Kind of.

It's not the dog's fault if their owner happens to abuse them, right? So the problem is not with the dogs themselves, right? Right.

The dogs are not the problem, the people are. The vicious people that breed these dogs specifically to be mean should be castrated, not the animals.

Dredge em up and you will be surprised. The breed responsible for the most attacks. One isolated incident true, but I do not have anything against Labs. I have owned many Pitts and have not a problem with any of them. How many have you owned? I am inclined to believe that you have no first hand knowledge. Great response Cid, simple and to the point.

By your logic, caucasian couples shouldn't be allowed to reproduce, because statistically, they're more likely than any other race to have a child who grows up to be a serial killer.
