Re: Pit Bull just attacked me
I haven't really got time to read through 7 pages of text - but from reading your first post, I would get a baseball bat and hit the dog untill I was convinced that it was dead. For me it is really that simple.

Re: Pit Bull just attacked me
i haven't read all the replies but you do need to call the police and report it. jerkoffs need to keep their animals under control. you got bit, that's not your fault. when we lived in the apartment a few years back this woman let her dog roam free. i would be out walking my dog, leashed, and this thing would come out of nowhere and pounce, going after my dog. i had to pick her up to protect her. this happened twice and i called the cops. they went over and spoke to her.

Re: Pit Bull just attacked me
This whole animal vs. owners argument is not unlike the tone is in the fingers argument. You can't discount either side of the equation. There is a valid reason rottis, shepherds and pitbulls are problematic homeowners insurance. They tend to attack with more frequency than other breeds. Sure, the owners have something to do with that, but so do the inherent qualities of the animal.
Sorry, JJ, you had to go through this, and I hope you get better soon!

Personally, I do NOT like Pit Bulls!! I never have and never will!
And I'm an animal lover!!!!! This incident just reassured me of WHY I do not like them. Many people have stated that they are like other dogs! That it's all in the way an owner trains them.
To an extent that it correct, but these are NOT like other dogs. Even well trained pit bulls have an "inborn" tendency to snap w/o reason! Say the wrong kid walks in the house. I've witnessed that first hand as well and the dog was "until that point" very friendly. The other reason they are NOT like other dogs is because of the strength in the shoulder / frontal body section and a jaw that can snap a mans forearm. Some of their heads are as big as a human head and it's ALL JAW!! I see absolutely NO point in owning an animal like this!
These people let this dog around their baby all the time. It's head is twice the size of the kids! I can tell he likes her but I personally think they are friggen crazy and told them than more than once!! It makes me really nervous to see that!
I live in an unincorporated rural area outside of Denver. "IN" Denver city limits, Pit's are banned w/ HARSH penalties if they find one in your possession! Pit bulls are allowed here. They have the "two strikes your out" penalty. The dog that my confrontation was with now has one strike. They documented her tag and and location. If ANYTHING happens again with this animal it will be put down (and rightfully so)
On a more positive note, the fence secured. I had enough left over from my fence to re-do the whole left side and back of their yard. The right side is my fence and we put up two security gates as well at the front left/right. It looks pretty nice
6'1/2 security fence so I doubt the dog will be able to get out. Plus they keep her (both of them) chained up now. They have another one that is just a pup.
I've been wondering what the heck I was gonna do with all that left over materials stuff because I was sick of looking at it so it went to a good purpose.
They were very appreicative and seem nice people. (though not the smartest, lol) Made some new friends and man can she cook!!
Thanks ~D. Yeah it's good stuff. My arm wounds (in the pic) are doing pretty good. No biggie! The one that bothers me is the gash in my ribs, but another two days and it'll all be good. Just a mere flesh wound
Thanks everyone for your concern and nice words!!!
You're a good neighbor, Jim. You wanna come to my house now and work in my backyard? I'm a good cook too! hehehehehehe I'm glad you're on the mend. I hope your wounds heal up quickly.
"Come back 'ere. I'll bite your legs off!!"

This story has to be a joke! The dog was trained to do that and now 20 people want to adopt it? Ay, I can just hear Cid's remarks on this one!

Re: Pit Bull just attacked me
If anything went in my yard my chow chow, would rip it up. It is just a protection instinct. I don't blame any dog for doing that, if fact, that is a large reason why I have a dog.
