Re: police increasing patrols in you area?

Nope! Out here in Scranton, PA it really seems as if there are never any police anywhere on the roads. I don't know what they are doing, but they certainly don't patrol the roads and unlike NJ they don't set up speed traps either. However, most of the drivers out here are also very courteous, and polite! That definitely has a lot to do with the police taking time for other more pressing matters...In 4 years of living out here, I've probably only seen police having pulled someone over 3-4 times. Funny part is while I'm speeding back to NJ, and I cross the state line I've been pulled over by NJ police 3 different times. Total police encounters since I've moved out here? 6! 3 crossing over and 3 just driving, and all by NJ cops! I never get a ticket anyway though, because my brother's an S.O.U. officer and I have the family shield. Cops hate seeing that sh!t from a long haired freaky guy..

NJ cops have the same quotas as everyone else (I suppose) they just would rather give out tickets to out of staters Come across that state line slow and easy!

Are you kidding?! Out here in Wildomar, CA, you'd be lucky to find mall security at the Outlet mall, (Down over by Temescal Canyon High,) let alone one SINGLE cop over here.

Even when I still lived in NJ, it was bad. The ratio of police sitting on the highways checking speed is vastly different between these two states!

I have also heard that the salary difference is a key issue, wherein police here kind of use this job as a stepping stone to a better municipality, so they are less likely to take certain things as seriously or even care the same way a well paid officer might. Kind of keeping their nose clean, and to bide their time until a transfer can be made.

Re: police increasing patrols in you area?

around here there has been a huge increase in speed traps. on the Parkway state troopers are hiding in bushes - something unseen since the 80s - and locally i notice at commuter time cops hiding in business driveways & alleys. I notice them because one is often at one of exits near my house (so i see them from the onramp LOL).

What is interesting is these are not SPEED DETERRENTS they are outright traps.

Also traffic patrols are up and christmas "free parking" is over. Pretty much all to be expected in a bankrupt country and state... glen

Yes, absolutely! State troopers more than any other cops too. State tax revenue is down and we have people leaving out state for the first time since WW2! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
Cheers!

AMEN!!!!
Thats exactly correct.

I travel alot on business and am a business professional.
I was pulled over on a state hiway for speeding, but the cop said he was gonna just charge me with failing to observe a sign. The fine would be $25.00.

After all was said and done and the county got what they wanted in taxes. The $25.00 ticket cost me $150.00.

Thats $150.00 for 4 miles over the speedlimit.

He wrote me a ticket for a sign in order for the county to not have to share the profits with the state.

I can honestly say that I cannot stand most police officers. I don't want anything bad to happen to any of them. And they do a very tough job. But the problem is that the amount of power they have, ruins the majority of them.

What's stunning is that cops and politicians seem to think the general population is so friggin' dumb that we don't see what's going on.

Re: police increasing patrols in you area?

now that you mention it, about a month ago it was very strange. i was coming home from work and there was a cop parked every block for about a mile. then there were a couple in trucks in the trees off the side of the road. then there were a couple on foot hiding behind trees and around a bend with handheld radar guns. it was like cop olympics...some kind of invasion. it was something out of a ufo movie or something...really really odd. then i drove another mile down and the same thing! they were everywhere! pulling people over left and right...and normal speed limit is 35! HEY THANKS FOR CATCHIN' THE REAL CRIMINALS! it's about time those 40mph speeders got what they deserve! idiots
