Punctuation

I've been a member of this forum for a while - and I've just got to say it. I've never really appreciated good punctuation until now. I've always taken it for granted - sitting back and enjoying reading peoples posts, learning about fantastic guitars. It was the thread entitled "777 series crap or not" that made me realize the difference good punctuation can make. I mean I don't want to name names, but some of those posts were just a struggle to get through. I just wanted to say it - I'm sure it's old hat, but for me - I realize I've been somewhat spoiled by the usual exceptional quality of posts on this forum.

Yeah, some of that was pretty rough to say the least. You want a lesson in articulation, just go to your local Wal-Mart...scary stuff over there!

I read thru some of that. Yea, it's pretty bad. At least I didn't see any text messaging style posts. I absolutely can not stand that crap.

Re: Punctuation

Is this going to be one of those threads where everyone is super critical about everyone else's grammar?

Incidentally, today the Oxford Dictionary has ditched hyphens from around 16,000 words. Now, hyphenated words are either all one word or two seperate words.

I agree that people should make an effort towards their grammar. It really helps to express yourself more clearly. Not naming any names, but some people could do with learning how to use full-stops. Sorry, I mean full stops.

No...because this is a worldwide forum and some folks (many of whom are exceptional members) do not know, or are in the process of learning proper English! (myself included....)

I'm not going to start criticizing peoples grammar - however I'm just expressing how happy I am that most people are pretty considerate with their posts. I'm sure there is a subtle difference.

I definitely DID NOT mean to criticize people who are in the process of learning English. Every time I think of that I'm reminded of the time I spent 6 weeks in Quebec. They must have laughed at me butchering their language.
