Quick question..

Hey guys,
I just got my 20 gig Ipod from ****, and it works great. I jut got home to install the software, and my Windows ME is too outdated, as I need Windows 2000 SP4, or windows xP to run the software. My question, is if there is anything I can do, or if I can update online some how w/o having to get the disc or buy it from somwhere.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nik

Re: Quick question..

Are you talking about updating windows online from Windows ME to Win2k SP4 or WinXP? If so then I am sorry to say no, you will need to get a win2k or winxp CD and install it.

Regards

Re: Quick question..

Well, im assuming that since you say it works great, hat it came with songs on it, or you got songs on it from someone else. Or maybe you just turned it on and assume it works great
What i assume your looking for, is a way to get music onto your ipod without using the software that came with your ipod? Well if thats the case then I can help you out.

http://www.ephpod.com/download.shtml

That is a program that was developed for windows, but the guy in my next link says that he had problems with that program on ME.

http://www.geocities.com/mmcfly8888/

That site walks you through transferring songs to your ipod with Me. If your ipod is already formatted to be used with windows, then you can skip the first few steps. This method requires winamp aswell.

Re: Quick question..

If I were you I'd scrap that crummy PC (that might not even be able to handle XP or win2000 BTW) and get yourself a Mac. The mac minis start at like 499 (although the 600 version is advised.) Macs also have a great software package. It'll come with garage band. So if you're so inclined you can lay down some of your own songs, import them to iTunes and let your band have a listen. Also if you have a band where a few of those cats are the music readin type it also has notates sequenced parts. Trust me dude, a Mac is the way to solve your problem(this is assuming you've got a little coin to spare, but hey ipods ain't cheap.)
