RIP Colin McRae!!
The legendary rally driver was killed when his private helicopter crashed yesterday
A very talented driver and a great ambassador for his sport and country.A great man indeed. Fast in whatever he drove, entertaining on and off the track. A very sad loss
His 5 year old son was with him and another father and son who were family friends.
My deepest sympathies to all involved

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
I heard about this one, it's a sad loss indeed. Also to the pilot who lost his life yesterday whilst flying his privately owned WWII Hurricane, he was taking part in the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight, one of many airshows over this year in the UK.

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
Heard this just a few hours ago, shocking news.
One of the greatest rally drivers ever, well, drivers full stop really. Him and Richard Burns were the best.

Yeh this is a real tragedy. He was a fantastic rally driver. Condolenses to the families of those that died in the crash.

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
I was gutted when i heard about this last night. A really great driver who will be very much missed. It's just terrible to lost him to such a terrible accident when he'd avoided any serious accidents while driving, even worse for his son to be with him too

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
Is it not mad that having the ability to own a helicopter, because of your obvious fame and talent, ends up being your own demise.
Thats sad. I to also played the collin mcrae games
It seems to me the richer you are the more often you fly planes or helicopters or really fast cars, and do more extreme things because of the extra change in your pocket, but this exposes you to more danger. I mean the chances of me even flying in a helicopter is almost remote, unless I make the big bucks. Gotta be carefull when you got a heap of money. That is terrible, to die in a helicopter with your son and his friend and the other father. Its tragic !!

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
RIP
he was a great driver, here in action in one of his last stints as a driver, filling in for (injured) World Champion Sebastian Loeb:
on the subject of helicopters, they are actually quite safe, unless you are famous or fly in the desert

Re: RIP Colin McRae!!
Apparently the main reason he had the helicopter was it was the easiest way for him to get about. He had business interests and getting to places from where he lived in Scotland was made much easier. He was reported as being a very competent pilot.
Very sad for British rallying as it's not that long ago we lost Richard Burns to illness
