It also depends on the distance it's going.

Re: shipping cost?

Try the US post office, I have always found them cheaper than UPS. To answer your question, there;s no way it's going from Texas to Mayland for $10.

Re: shipping cost?

Due to it's physical size, a guitar box is gonna ship at the 25 pound rate, no matter what the actual weight is.

The USPS is cheaper, but I've had too many bad experiences to trust them again. If it's not a letter or a small parcel, most long distance USPS packages are shipped via FedEx Ground tractor trailers. The goons at FedEx Ground unload the USPS goods at their terminals and US Mail trucks (contract drivers) pick them up and deliver them to your town's main post office.

Re: shipping cost?

I only use USPS for international, I find it to be much more of a pain to drop off large packages there. I don't think there is much difference in cost in the US. I usually use Fedex, they have a dropoff near where I work. There is a UPS store a couple of blocks from where I work, but they do seem to be more expensive than dropping off at a UPS terminal no matter what they say. There was a mysterious $6 or so "service charge" on the last package I shipped through them.

TX to MD should be around $35 or so.

Re: shipping cost?

I use USPS 2/3 day Priority, and don't have problems.
