Question

Shipping Question

I have never shipped a guitar before, but I will be doing so next week. If it is being shipped in a hard case, do you also need to find a box to put it in, or can you just ship it directly in the case?

Re: Shipping Question

It's a good idea to put the case in a box, or even double box it. If you have it shipped in a case, damage to the case is likely. If in doubt, have a box shop do it for you.

Re: Shipping Question

You need a box to put the case in. You should also wrap the headstock in bubble wrap within the case, and make sure there are no loose bits in the case that could fly around and damage the finish in transit.
Go to a local music store and ask for a box from their garbage, and they might give you one.

Re: Shipping Question

Thanks for the replies. The bubble tape on the headstock is a great idea.

Re: Shipping Question

Bubblewrap the case first, then if you can't get a box for it make out of smaller boxes and tape those around the case (which have bubble wrapped first). I did this to the guitar I shipped the UK last week (with case).

Re: Shipping Question

if your still a bit weary about packing it up, take it to a UPS store and they can help you, and/or show you how to do it.

Re: Shipping Question

I let a Mailboxes, Etc. place pack a guitar for me once and they charged me something insane, like $140. So, don't go there!
