So I'm walking my dog...
And we're going on our usual walk.
Some background info:
He's a 3 year old 90 lb Doberman that is NOT fixed. Makes a difference...
He doesn't necessarily get along good with other dogs, especially males.
So I round the last corner on the final stretch. All of the sudden, I see a kid riding a bike and a big dog come around the corner. I notice from a distance that the dog is not on a leash, and doesn't have a collar. Then I notice that the dog is a Pit. I'm like "Oh ****..."
So I say to the kid "Is that your dog?" hoping it is and he'll grab it. He's like "Nope, it's been just running around the neighborhood..." Now I'm really like "Oh ****..." At this point I'm thinking there's nothing I or anyone else is going to be able to do...
So the pit runs up to my dobe. Their heads go in the air and their necks go stiff like it's only seconds away from happening. I'm holding the leash as tight as I can...
Then they start playing like their best friends. This is a male pit, by the way; it is apparent he's already been fixed. They start hopping up and down and acting like they are best friends. I'm still slightly cautious, because this never happens, especially with male dogs. But the rest of the way home they just jump around and paw and play and goof off, and I'm relieved. My dog is soaked from all of the dog slobber that was exchanged in this quintessential meeting.
I guess it was so much fun he decides to collapse on the floor when we get home.
And now I guess he misses his new friend because he's looking for him out the window.
All is well that ends well. I guess he has a new buddy now.

When I was thinking "That dog is gonna get killed, or my dog is gonna get killed", it was pretty scary.

Re: So I'm walking my dog...
so glad for you man. i have been in that situation and it has never turned out well. my male will not play well with any dog unless he already knows them...from when he was a puppy. i'm glad your guy has a new friend. did you ever find out where that dog came from? no collar? did you just go inside and the dog kept wandering? i hope he is alright.....did you call the police or anything to report it so he can get home? just looking out for him....massive animal lover here. once again.....i'm glad for you and your dog nothing happened!

Re: So I'm walking my dog...
I'm so glad that wasn't a sad story, I was reading it half heartedly at first in case it ended in disaster. Its nice to hear a nice story about dogs. I worry so much that dogs will go for my little dog. He is so timid but would love to play with any dog, but he has a face they don't all like. I'll read him this as a bed time story.
Thanks jaxadam

Re: So I'm walking my dog...
lol... you have no clue...
His best friend is a male Rhodesian Ridgeback, and all they do is hump each other non-stop. It's ridiculous. They have another female Ridgeback that they just completely ignore.

Well, she kinda is. Every time they go over to her to get some she just snaps and barks at them.

Re: So I'm walking my dog...
I have a male pitt not fixed the neighbors had a male miniature mop looking thing male not fixed this dog used to walk down the street and squeeze between the gate and go in the yard with my pitt. They would play all dang day that little dog would even sit in my dogs food dish and eat. The neighbor lady freaked out until she seen them playing. Sadly the lil dog got run over walking down the street to play with his buddie. I can go out side and ask my dog "wheres your buddy" and he looks down the street all sad.
