Re: So you think Fedex is better than UPS? ;)

holy shi**!

that is just unacceptable.

I just sent a pickup to someone via usps, and i'm glad i chose them from what everyone is saying here.

the thing that sucks the most though is the fact that they could care less if it was a dollar or $10,000, it's not theirs, right?

i would run and risk my life to catch a box labeled ibanez from three stories above.

wow. i would have been one MAD MF! when i receieved a new Ibanez in the new TJC case and the case was bent on one side (case couldn't latch on one side at all) it took about 2-3 weeks to get a check cut for the list price of the case ($179). i still have the case and it still won't latch but i did get the money, win-win situation kinda. still sucks to have a messed up case. the guitar was fine, luckily.

That's really sad. My roomie ended up paying over 500 in customs charges with a UPS delivery from the states.

Re: So you think Fedex is better than UPS? ;)

Sucks. Especially if you are me! It's my guitar that I sent to Rich, as stated, to do a pro setup. Yes, it was insured. $1700.00 to be exact. Unfortunately the morons at fedex sent a sub contracted claims inspector out to inspect it on site. There exact words, "there was no damage to the box or case, so we aren't liable for the damage, and the claim has been denied." Too bad, so sad. No apology, nothing. I am out of luck unless I want to go the legal route, which would no doubt cost as much as a new JS.
So here is the beginning of my quest to tell everyone that I possibly can to NEVER use FedEx. My guitar was packed properly, and was in near perfect condition when I shipped it (with insurance) to my favorite guitar guru.
Oh, and by the way....no, Eddie UV777...you can't have it. It's my very own piece of junk, and I'm not parting with it. Of course, you can certainly have the thing for $1700!

Oh yeah....almost forgot. Their explanation said there was no damage to the hardshell case...but the pictures clearly show the case is damaged on one "foot".

This really sucks. So sorry that has happened to you.

I'm not accusing FedEx of this, but do you think there's a chance it was denied because they don't think you would pursue legal action based on the costs?

May be wise to at least talk with an expert on the matter first if you have not already.

Of course. They make money. It's a business. It's probably in their employee handbook..."Rule #38: All claims must be denied. Most people will give up and not persue. This saves FedEx money." "Rule #39: If Matt calls back...be rude, stupid, and act like a jackass."

HERE IS MY NEW SOLUTION (or at least...a quick fix that will make me feel better). If I could get everyone to call 1-800-gofedex, and ask to speak with Jackie Conley in the Cargo Claims Department, and ask her why they have denied a valid claim for case#1124626293, that would be great. Don't forget to tell her your future plans about which carrier you'll use to send packages from now on. I figure, 3-400 calls might do something.

Maybe you could see if you could take legal action and they would have to pay your fees if you win.

Really I would have to do 'something' since this is a total betrayal of proffesional trust.
