Something odd about RGTFanatic
Many years back, my father, Ryc (Also known an
RGTFanatic
here on Jemsite), gave me and my brother a few CD's of his to listen to. A lot of them were more what I'd find his taste to be, and a bit of Pantera. But mostly just some good Rock. Except for one. . . . . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6kXLkJA6g0
Fredrik.
Thordendal
's. Special. Defects.
For those of you who don't know, Fredrik Thordendal is one of the guitarists for Meshuggah.
This 80's glam rocker has one of the most metal albums on the planet. Some of the classic, and original Djent. And it's weird as FU*K! For those here who know him, you'd know that he's an 80's guy all day. Desert Sun Yellow RG550 and all.
The best part is that this is a burnt CD! He didn't just pick it up by mistake. e got the files somewhere and made it!
Father, why do you have this and why did you NEVER put it on? You actually knew more about Meshuggah before I had ever even listened to metal. And you don't listen to metal!
Explain!

And now my quest is complete!!!!
I've told you since you were very little to listen to, and learn from everything musical. Great guitar work is just that, no matter what genre it's being played on.
When I first heard Thordendal (through Mark Simsick) this was brand new and unheard. I loved the structured chaos.......... I still do.

Have you ever listened to Mr. Bungle?
If not, check out their fist CD with the pics of drunk clowns all over the insert.

I DID put Mr. Bungle afterwards!
But I'm still surprised that you had this. It's like a Djenty Black Metal Bungle.

Re: Something odd about RGTFanatic
Haha that's fantastic. Special Defects is a pretty weird cd, though it sure does contain some excellent and interesting sections. For open minded people, artists like Maynard J Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Pusifer, and more), and Mike Patton (Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Mondo Cane, Peeping Tom, and of course Faith No More plus others) both have a lot of weird yet very interesting music covered.

The old-ass is still a bad-ass, just that "bad-ass" takes on a different, and less pleasant context!
