Sunday @ 7 AM - I'm Watching Planet Of The Apes...

I haven't seen this flick in 20 years.

Man, it brings me right back to where my head was at in 1972 or whatever year it came out. Heston was cool. I think the music soundtrack really freaked me out back then because it's very troubling to me now.

To me, there is a strong Viet-Nam tie with this movie - guys far from home in a hostile environment -
Years later I was a piano major in college and the orchestra brought in Aaron Copland to conduct a concert of his music. One piece we did was called "Portrait of an American President" and Heston narrated it standing next to me while I was at the piano. We talked after the show and he was a great guy.

I remember watching it as a kid, and having a couple of the action figures! Wasn't there a TV series spun from it too? I was young, so I could be off.

Funny, they're using the soundtrack from the movie "2001 A Space Odyssey" on the commercial for Plant Of The Apes!!!!!

POTA is one of my top-3 sci-fi movies... really a timeless classic. Worth watching every year or two ...glen

Especially since Hess died last night. I for one will miss him.
