Question

Tell me about Linux.

Anyone here using it?
I'm kind of bored with my pc lately and I was thinking of trying out some version of Linux.
Which is the best version for a newbie? I consider myself quite knowledgable about computers but not Linux.
Right now I'm looking at Mandriva but Suse looks popular too.

Couple of questions...

1) Can I use some version of Adobe Photoshop with Linux? (This is a must).
2) will other things work like my usb ports and my compac flash card reader, USB mouse etc.
3) Screenshots?

Re: Tell me about Linux.

Fedora 6 just came out... rediculously easy to use. comes with GiMP which is alot like photoshop.. does everything I need it to. It is theoretically possible that you could use this without ever needing a terminal..

I havent tried any other versions of linux excpet red-hat.. so I cant compare them. However I do like fedora ...

USB mouse, sure. Other related hardware, I don't know. Depending on your distribution, you may have to set such things up manually.

Absolutely.

I'd strongly suggest you read up on Linux and how it works before touching it to avoid misunderstandings and wrong expectations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux

Good luck.
