I've just had a look at that site and all I can say is Jeez somebody's put a lot of time and effort into making an elaborate yet truly unbelievable hoax.

Re: the future is here

For the Love of God!!! what the heck is that?!? it looks scary!!! if it is for real they remind me of those monster babies in an old horror movie...

Re: the future is here

If it was real don't you think that it would have exploded as the biggest story in world news ?
Plus how come they've not made any videos of the pink muppets alive ?

It's a publicity scam designed to get people talking and little more.

LOL!!!! I was thinking of the same thing!!!!! Imagine what a hideous pet it would
make!!! "And for the top story of the day: A puppy was found half eaten by a genpet when the child who owns it decided to play with the dog earlier that day instead of the Genpet"
Warning:May develop a taste for human flesh... (in extremely fine print in the package) Gosh! this could make a good script for one of those cheap scifi horror flicks.

Re: the future is here

they DO look like they escaped some horror movie or something...

It would be no surprise to me if we can't control them and they take over the world sooner or later...

They certainly look like they could do that

Re: the future is here

I thought it was a small monkey or gunipig with no hair...

I like this

"life may vary depending on temperature and Genpet ™ freshness"

So is this how long it takes for the lithium battery in the packaget to die out on this thing?

Maybe they are like Gremlins, add water and they multiply

Yeah, imagine if you were unfortunate to buy a NOS one, you'd get it out of the packet and it'd be dead in the morning.

Now if they could invent a Genpet that could make cups of tea, wash up and do the laundry I could get rid of the wife as she costs me a fortune. LOL !!!

Re: the future is here

Wow they say they are real!

They have some sick ones in the media section... This is just weird - yet cool, but still weird.

Are Genpets Real?
Genpets are living, breathing mammals. Bio-Genica is a Bioengineering Company that has combined, and modified existing DNA to create the Genpets lineup. Genpets are flesh and blood just like any other animal.

Re: the future is here

Ok, I did some research and they are not real biogen-animals... hehehe

First and foremost, Genpets are not really living creatures. Genpets are made by an artist named Adam Brandejs along with makeup by Crystal Pallister. They are made as a statement about bioengineering for pets and are mainly meant to show the world that humanity is not yet ready for genetically altered pets. The artist states on his site that he is not against bioengineering, just corporate ethics and what how far they will go to make money. So, while they are real in the sense that you can physically touch them, they are not actually a living entity.

The sculptures begin with a plastic mold. Silicon is used to create the cast for the new Genpet. Either liquid or foam latex is then used, depending on the movement wanted for the new Genpet. After this, a series of circuitry is added to the pet allowing it to seem to move. The final makeup touches are applied, and a new Genpet is born. The artist shows on his website how all this was done
