The King

Elvis died 30 years ago today.

Question 1: does anyone really care, or is all this lip service as real as an Elvis impersonator's sideburns?

Question2: If he were still alive, would he look like Bruce Campbell in Bubba Ho-Tep?

Re: The King

Elvis basically STARTED rock music - blues phrasing over rockabilly music - without him, we'd be listening to Lawrence Welk!

He got pretty wobbly in his later years (we all do - heck - look at Frank Sinatra for Gossakes - and he was one of the finest male singers ever!), but if you have a look at some of his early live appearances, man, he was dynamite!

God Bless the King! Happy Birthday Elvis, wherever you are.

To me it seems like it's been even longer! hehehehe My sister is a big Elvis fan, but I never got into him that much. But I did like some of his songs and he did help bring black music more mainstream so I give him kudos for that as well.

Re: The King

I do, i think Elvis probably made one of the biggest contributions to music of his time.

Re: The King

When I first saw the title, I thought it was Jerry "The King" Lawler (also known as the Burger King)
