Those look good Rotti (though a bit cold for my blood
) The second from the last shot would have to be my favorite.

Thanks Distant, just snapshots really. Documenting the cool winter trip. It was -19'C or 2.2 degree Fahrenheit. Pretty chilly.
Cool photos ibanezcollector. What was the aperature for that grill cloth photo?

Re: The Photography Thread
Ibanezcollector - really nice crisp shots!
Rotti - nice puppy! How far did you drive?
On the 5D - I agree with Glen: he helped me select the 5D original, which was my first FF. I still LOVE that cam! I use my 5D mark II mainly, while the 5D original is my backup / 2nd cam at ceremony's. I got the 5D mark II because I needed better low light in churches where
flash
wasn't allowed, and also wanted HD video as well. This enabled me to get cool video of the bride between taking stills. I bought my 5D original used for like $1300 and never had an issue with dirt, although there was some debris through the viewfinder when I got it. I got used to it. There is nothing on sensors, as my photos are all clean, luckily! I'm not shooting high speed sports so a crazy fast machine gun shutter isn't needed. The original 5D rocks, especially with a prime lens or L series. On it, I use my 50mm prime or
Canon
70-200L and nothing more.
I'll have to take more with the 5D but for now, here's one I took awhile ago, no flash, ambient light, one of my favs.

Re: The Photography Thread
That 5D photo looks good. I'm probably going to get one at some point.
We drove about 700 kms (430 miles) round trip. it was slow going for a lot of the drive because of the road conditions.

Re: The Photography Thread
I dunno know.... did you order a new computer too? Processing the files will be harsh.
Nikon
just needed an 18MP FF body at a decent cost. 36MP is a bit much imho. Not sure what would be improved vs the 700 unless you need 36MP (pretty unlikely). High ISO is gonna take a big hit also. Just sayin'. This sums up my thoughts pretty well...

Changing gears the Canon 24-70/2.8 L II was announced... glen

Re: The Photography Thread
Got a brand new PC not too long ago, higher MP are nice but not my main reason. I wanted to be able to shoot video, finally i get 2 memory card slots, and the new expeed3 processor, aside from a little lighter is good enough for me
I know you are a canon guy at heart glen and i was a couple times ready to move over to the dark side myself

Re: The Photography Thread
I'm amazed anyone shooting Video hasn't moved to Canon a few years ago. If i started new i'd consider Nikon long and hard but their decisions are puzzling to say the least.
33MP is just absurd though at this time for photo use... glen

Re: The Photography Thread
the 1Dx is 18mp and 12fps FF covering everything. The 5D2 was 22MP and 1080p/24. The 5D3 is forthcoming... a wildcard. Could stay around 22MP with video improvements, 7D niceties/AF, etc
I can see another 1D eventually at 40MP but much pricier (for studio pros) with a new sensor design.
the 33MP at $3,300 is just a head scratcher (like Sony's FF efforts) to me... glen
