wbreslin951, cool photos. Lots of personality in there. What would the aperature of your pinhole camera be?
HAGO, thanks man. It is nice here. I did the concrete jungle thing for a while and it's not for me. Now I'm surrounded by ocean and forest and it's alright.
great pix guyz.. "crazy guitar's" wedding day !!! does he know most of those axes will have to go after the wedding!! keep em comin' great stuff.
Some guitar pics. I might sell a guitar that I don't play a lot to help fund a new lens. I took some photos today hoping that some really nice photos would help me get top dollar for the guitar in the auction site.
Here's what I came up with....
Here are some pics from a dinner we did tonight. It was a celebrity sports dinner for the Halifax progress club. We had 1370 guests, for three courses, and the guests were Ray Bourque, Pete Rose, Phill Esposido.
Let's just say it was a long day. by the way, that's my new sigma 17-70. I'm sure I didn't do it justice, these were more snap shots than anything, but I really like the lens.
I"m the Chef for, the Cunard Event Center, with RCR Hospitality Group here in Halifax. We also do all F&B for Pier 21. A historic site where many imagrants came into Canada, and a lot of off site catering based out of the Cunard. It's not unusall to have a dinner for 800+ at the Cunard, a dinner for 400 in pier 21 and several off sites all at the same time. our web site is rcr.ca if any one wants to check us out. Is it ok that I put the web site in here?
Thats great! I'm still in Culinary school, right now im working the restaurant at school, and a sous chef at my friend's restaurant. I love it, no matter how slammed we are, the goal is to prevail, and the feeling of prevailing is well worth the work, that doesnt just got for Cul Arts, it goes for everything, haha.
Rotti I love your guitar pics. The dark wood against the guitar along with the lighting, makes it look very nice. I hate Parker guitars but your pics make me want to buy this one. You seem to have a very good understanding of lighting.
Rotti, great pics as always. love the parker guitar shots. what did you use for lighting? any type of flash or constant light source? i'm going to guess iso 400 F2.8 for most and 1/60? i'm sure it will sell with those pics! what lens are you looking at buying?
As far as that crazy dinner is concerned, i wonder how much that costs?!?!
I used a remote triggered off camera flash bounced off of the ceiling onto my dingingroom table for the Parker shots.
You are prety close on the settings. I'm at iso 200 but with my old 300D that probably looks like iso400 on the newer cameras.
Oh and as for a lens I'm looking for a super wide. Maybe a 10-20mm. I also wouldn't mind an 85 1.8 and the new Sigma 30mm 1.4 is tempting too but probably the super wide for now.
Chef, your shots with the Sigma look good. I was wondering do you have a fast prime lens of any kind? For taking photos of food a fast prime would be great.
The 50mm 1.8 is dirt cheap and it's a good lens. There is also a 30mm 1.4 by Sigma that is supposed to be fantastic. Also very reasonably priced.
Rotti the Canon 10-22 is very good. EF-S only though. But if you're not planning on going full frame that's plenty fine.
The 10-22 is built like Canon L glass (number of elements, size, etc etc). But doesn't get the L designation (most think this is because L glass is NEVER EF-S only).
Yes as I understand it the Canon is the best in it's class. The Sigma is cheaper and I could live with that one if I have too. I'm also looking at a Tokina 12-24. Not sure if 12mm is wide enough but I`ve found a good deal on one.
I have no problem with EF-S. I'm not going FF any time soon.
