Re: The Photography Thread

some nice photos here, im gonna add one, its more of a feeling of vitriol than a nice photo but i think people may empathize with me.

full signal=network busy
network not busy=no signal

Heres a few I shot today with my new lens. Sigma 17-70. No PS only some tweaking in LightRoom:

Re: The Photography Thread

I realy like the second one with the fan. How did you do the black and white conversion? It looks great. It actualy looks like a slight sepia color.

Re: The Photography Thread

Thanks, It was a setting in LightRoom. I think creative aged photo. Thanks for recommending that lens too, really enjoying it. I figured I'd save some money now and buy that lens. Then see where I am with this photography stuff in year and look at upgrading to an L lens if I still need one.

Re: The Photography Thread

The Sigma is a killer lens. I wouldn't trade mine for a Canon 17-40mm "L". I would miss the extra reach of the Sigma and the closeup ability. The Sigma is super sharp, and the color reproduction is excellent. Try some blue sky shots with that lens if you want to see some nice color.

Re: The Photography Thread

Yea that second pic is really nice, first seems a little out of focus, but has very nice color. I really like the web one as well. My sigma 17-70 is in the mail, along with a vertical grip. Can't wait to get them.

Re: The Photography Thread

Yea, I probably should have used a manual focus on that 1st one like I did the spider web. Thanks for the comments guys!

Re: The Photography Thread

A mate of mine and I decided to start giving each other weekly assignments, where we both come up with a "theme", implement the theme without consulting each other, and present the finally images to each other by a set deadline. After this we have to pull each others image apart, how was it lit, how was it processed, what do you believe could be improved and why, etc etc.

This week's theme was, "Coming For You In The Night":

Maybe a higher aperature like f16 would have been better for that photo. That would have given you more depth of field and more of the photo in focus.
Are you converting your photos to sRGB before posting on the web? If not you should try it. Your photos will have stronger color and more "pop" when viewed online if you convert then to sRGB.

Re: The Photography Thread

Yeah the fan one is my favorite too, I love stuff like that, original vintage stuff, looks great! Reminds me at work, there's a substation room with an original old phone from the days when you had to put your finger in the disc and rotate round to dial, and it's still connected to the exchange!

i too liked the B/W fan picture from D-shore... Wilch's "coming to get ya in the night" pic is interesting.. your murderer?? could do with some blood on his chopper!! (does that sound rude?) and maybe a white t shirt with tomato sauce splashes on it.. very atmospheric.. great images..
