Re: The Photography Thread
Got my 30D today so I had to post a few test photos. These are quickies I took while trying out the camera. I love the 30D btw. So fast and accurate compared to my old 300D.
Hopefully I can get some quality time with it later in the week.

Re: The Photography Thread
Thanks, I ordered from Adorama. Good price but I got killed on the shipping. UPS is fast but expensive. It's still half what I would have paid locally so I'm happy. This is a refurbed 30D. It came sealed in a
Canon
refrub box. You could not tell it from new. It's perfect in every way. I also bought the 2 year mac warranty just in case.
As for lenses the flowers and bus were shot with the Sigma 17-70, and the Dog was shot with a 70-200L. Hopefully Friday morning I'll be beside the ocean when the sun comes up and I'll see if I can get something good.

Re: The Photography Thread
Conrgrats Rotti! Though I am sworn in by
Nikon
, the 30 D is great. I hope Nikon Comes out with something that competes against the 5D.

Re: The Photography Thread
Well, after searching the www for about a month for a DSLR, I've stumbled upon the a local guy with the following:
Slightly used 20D w/ all original factory items in box.
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM - new in unopened box USA warranty.
Tamron AF 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5
Magic Lantern Guide for the 20D and Canon 20D Made Easy training DVD's (volumes 1 and 2).
Also includes a 1 or 2 GB SD
flash
memory card.
He's asking about $800.

Re: The Photography Thread
I'm trading emails, but he went to bed after the first reply. We'll see if I can knock a little more off with a cash discount.
He was asking $500 w/ the Tamron lens and another $300 for the Canon lens.
I'm thinking the IS feature would be beneficial for a walk around lens.
I'm totally green w/ AF and DSLR cameras. I took photo courses in HS and college using full manual Canon and Nikon equipment. We shot totally b/w and were responsible for developing and enlarging our own photos. I passed both courses with A's and B's respectively. (I would have done better in college, but it was spring semester and my darkroom partner was a 36-24-38 redhead!)

Re: The Photography Thread
A little fun with macro, and my first attempt at focus stacking.
Some ghosting, but not bad for a first try.

Re: The Photography Thread
When shooting macro you shoot multiple shots using different focus points and then stack them using software like Combinezm or Heliconfocus to overcome the shallow depth of field. Also works well in landscape photography from what I understand.
