Looks like Serra was hurt in training so GSP is taking his place at UFC 79.

Thats too bad - for Matt Hughes! GSP's gonna kill him. I mean Matt Hughes is an awesome fighter, and I'd take him over Matt Serra (freak win over GSP) - but when it comes down to it - GSP is one of the only guys that can deal the kind of damage that'll get to Matt Hughes. And IMO he's got better technique. But you never know with UFC fights, anything can happen. It'll certainly be entertaining.

Thanks for the heads up, now I have something to talk about with my partner at work tomorrow. Youd be suprides but 50 hours a week of dick and your mom jokes starts to get old after 4 months.

Too bad, I was looking forward to Serra and Hughes. GSP will still be a great fight. The real show is going to be Liddell and Silva though, damn why didn't they do that a year ago before Liddell lost the belt. I also heard that Dan Henderson is going to go down in weight to fight Anderson Silva, that will be nuts too.

Serra suffered a herniated disk. That sounds serious. I wonder if it will be a career ending type injury?

No, actually he'll be fighting the winner of GSP / Hughes. This is good for GSP as he gets to get his belt back by demolishing Hughes again, and then gets to avenge his loss to Serra.

To be fair we are both that guy, so it's cool. The main thing I learned is you can say the meanest sht to someone, but if you say it with a bad Russian accent it works to break the tension.

the event card is filled with decent to great fights, im lookin forward to all of them. m1 is having a new years eve event that looks even better then this, check it out if you haven't heard of M1

Hopefully he'll kick him in the nuts a few times again like he did last time. It was wonderful watching GSP completely rule Matt Hughes.

I definitely think Serra vs. GSP was a fluke, and that same situation won't happen again if they fight. GSP has some of the best technique in the UFC right now.

I do not like Matt Hughes, and I was really looking forward to Serra vs. Hughes, but like Gilk said, the real fight is gonna be Liddell and Silva. I think I might actually try not to drink too much that night so I will actually remember it!

Henderson and Anderson Silva will be a great fight, too. I'm still wondering what's going on with Randy Couture. Dana White is kind-of acting like an a$$ about "owning him" for the remainder of his contract.

u gotta be careful dude.. you're falling right into what zuffa WANTS you to think about fighters.. hughes has been portrayed as a hard@ss/ prick both times he has been on the ultimate fighter... its all in the editing-- do you think gabe rudigar was really that much of a baby? no, they just made it look like that cuz its TV and you need drama. its all marketing

I just haven't liked Matt Hughes before both of the shows, and for a very long time.

is it how he fights, or is it his pre-fight interviews --- fighters are told to say certain things to hype up the fights.. a fight with negativity going into it will draw a bigger ppv buy.. i.e. phil baroni, tito ortiz, or even chris leben
