Upgraded to Vista. good or bad choice??

I just got upgraded to vista home premium. Was this a bad idea??

Everyting looks fine so far, some buttons are hard to find a first, but starting to get used to it.

Are there a lot of bugs with Vista, any programs i shouldnt download to Vista??

Any advice for a newtime vista user.

I've been using Vista for around 3 months now, and it's quite good, still alot of people prefer XP though.

Believe it or not, I'm currently using Windows 95. So upgrading to Vista is a non issue to me

Re: Upgraded to Vista. good or bad choice??

i have been using Vista Premium in my new Dell 1501 for the past two weeks and i'm starting to get the hang of the new menus and features.
it seems much faster but that may just be the better hard drives and larger memory over my last laptop. i'm a computer dunce for the most part.
the only photoshop feature seems to be a limited use temporary Corel program that you only get for 60 days. the Snapfire stuff is limited too. i don't know what will still be usable after these things expire. i hope there is something to use for the nice burner installed in my system after these things expire as that would be total crap if i don't have something pre-installed since the drive is factory installed.

...waiting for the Mac trolls...
That said, I've used Vista for some gaming, it works ok.
It doesn't yet take full advantage of the card I have, but it isn't laggy either.
I'm actually running one of the release candidates, non retail.

Yeah, that annoyed me as well, Bones If you decide to buy snap or corel, it's a one time purchase that lasts forever (supposedly) I just went ahead and purchased them.

Re: Upgraded to Vista. good or bad choice??

so i guess we still don't know if these is something factory installed
i would like to think that on the system i just dropped good money on would at least have soem kind of CD/DVD editor program pre-installed that i don't have to pay extra for.
so what was the Corel and Snapfire costs, $59 each?
i have a driver disk for my Kodak cam with limited photoshop stuff on it but i have been reluctant to install it, i guess i might have to.

Yeah, they do. You don't need the programs, but I looked into them and they are both good (from what I was told) so I bought them.

We must have gotten our new Dells within a few days of each other. (hopefully it will be a case of "great minds think alike" ) I got the XPS 410 (duo core) I'm actually really starting to enjoy it. Like you, I'm a complete computer ditz so the Vista has thrown me a bit, but I'm getting there. Just common sense really

Bones, call the Dell help desk with your program questions, etc.
they are VERY helpfull
