using car speakers with portable dvd player, wirelessly?

I got a portable dvd player for my baby daughter so that she can be entertained on long trips in the car, but the volume on the player is too low even when turned all the way up, i want to use my car speakers to hear the audio from the dvd player, but i would like to do this wirelessly if possible.

The car stereo receiver has an auxillary input that can be used to connect external audio sources like a dvd player so you can hear the audio through the car stereo, but is there a way to do this wirelessly, so that i dont have to use a long cable going from the stereo all the way to the back of the car??

is there a wireless receiver that would take the place of wireless headphones that would connect to the aux "IN" jacks on the car stereo, that would allow the audio being transmitted from the dvd player (an IR transmitter would be connected to the dvd player), to be heard through the aux IN jack (car stereo)??

If this is possible, let me know! thanks

jeez - how long is your car!?!?!? lol

I'm assuming the portable DVD player has an 1/8" output for headphones...how about one of those transmitters that you hook up to get the sound transmitted to a low FM frequency ....88.1 or 88.3. That'll do it for you and you don't have to use the aux input.

on the 'bay item #130177835103

Something like that...

Hey Kenny,

That sounds like a good idea, but you still use a cable from the cigarette lighter to the audio source right?? i thought those transmitters were mainly for Ipods, i used one for my ipod. The only thing i dont like is that when you are travelling, sometimes the frequency signal gets weak as you go from one place to another and you start to hear static and such in the audio, then you have to change the frequency, or find one that works.

If i used the aux IN on my stereo, i wouldn't have to deal with this.........and also, i sometimes use the cigarette lighter for my GPS system.

But i guess, the transmitter would be a cheap alternative to the aux IN. I just didnt know if there WAS something that could make the connection wireless at the aux INPUT connection to eliminate running a long cable from the dvd player to the stereo.

There isn't a device for that specific purpose that I know of. You could always get a headphone extension cord and run it neatly under the seats and up to the head unit and hook it up to an fm modulator.

Not much experience with babies, eh?

I agree those FM transmitters are pretty crappy. I'd get the headphone cord extension and run it under the mats or something if neatness counts.
