What a rip off country!

Cor blimey guvnor!

What a rip off country I live in.

Right, got a crack in the radiator of my car, a Chevrolet Corvette, and they want £350 + VAT for a new radiator, just the radiator itself!

Can get one from a little as $140 from the states and get it shipped over!

Rant over!

Thats crazy!.... (being a fellow Corvette nut I figured I'd chime in with that )

I'm a little suprised that chevy parts would be that expensive...even in europe. Thats just highway robbery!

You gotta admit though, a Chevy Corvette in the UK is a very rare thing, I'm surprised you can even get it down the road, I wouldn't think it would fit!

Is there a place that can repair it there?

Re: What a rip off country!

It's not really any wider than the big BMW's or Mercedes, certainly not as wide as commerical vehicles, so driving it here is no problem. Granted, US roads are usually wider.

I was driving it to and from work everyday until the radiator busted on me.

I can get the radiator repaired, but they want £250 + VAT, and VAT is at 17.5%, so I may as well order from the likes of Zip Corvette and get it in cheaper. I'm eager to get driving her again, but not desperate as fortunatley I have another car to use.

DAMN IT ANT

When did you get a Corvette......and put up some bloody pics IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!

What year??? Is it a C4,C5,C6????? Talk about hiding things
I guess prices are high just because it's a Corvette. I think i paid about £100-ish for a rad for my '88 Camaro!!!

You must be earning pretty sweet to have a 'Vette for a daily driver Nice one mate!!

Re: What a rip off country!

Have you tried Autopontiac in Hounslow??? There used to be 'Vette specialists advertise in Classic American magazine but i don't know how expensive they would be!!

Got my rad in Customville in Chadwell Heath, but it's lucky for me as i live within a couple of miles of it!!!

Hey Andy.

I've got one pic on the photobucket at the moment of my 1985 C4

So what Camaro have you got? My mate had one of those, think that's what started my Chevy love off!

Re: What a rip off country!

Cheers mate

Iroc-Z, that's a sexy car

You didn't do bad on the price of the radiator for yours, not sure if Corvettes just have more expensive parts. Alot of the time, the gargares or UK suppliers get what they have from the same place as I would order from, in the states. They seem to charge in pounds what it costs in dollars and then some!

Re: What a rip off country!

That goes for most things though!!!!

I can well imagine 'Vettes are just pricier in general though!!! Who asked for the £350+??

Re: What a rip off country!

Was a garage over my way, they specialise in american car servicing and repairs. Even they admit that I'll probably get the parts in cheaper.
