As a spin-off of stealthtastic's thread about how many hours a week we work, I'm starting this thread as a place to describe your job. I've found that, as much as I know many of you, I have no idea what you do for a living.....
I.E........ I've been a commercial and residential remodeling contractor for 16 years. Before that, I built new construction homes strictly as a framing carpenter.
My entire life has been spent in the building trades with the exception of a few years (1994-2000) as a casino dealer and table games supervisor.
I've been an environmental chemist for about the last 7 years now working in a lab. I was working in the private sector doing volatile organic compound (voc's) analysis but just recently started working for the state (like 2 weeks ago) doing drinking/ground water analysis.
The company I was with is a big pile of suck. I actually like the lab work but the people and the atmosphere made it a horrible place to work. I'm happy to be out of there.
So far I like my new job better pay, better hours, better people, and less stress.
I am a S/W Eng, Chief S/W Architect, DBA for a large shipping company in Greece. Been here for the last 15 years, and I really like it! When I want to relax, I try to fix things in the house, or in lack of anything better ..... guitars
I'm a Product / User Experience / Interaction Designer (my title changes constantly due to the industry I'm in) at a mid-sized company that has created "THE all-in-one sales and marketing software for small business."
It's batsh*t crazy where I work, stressful as hell, and requires some late nights and weekend work, but I'm thankful to be there. I get to work closely with entrepreneurs and small businesses every day, which has really expanded my knowledge of internet marketing and how to start an internet-based business.
