What I fixed for dinner tonight
Well, the mood around the house has been very melancholy this week (missing cat
), so I decided to treat the family to something special.
Tonights Menu:
Filet Mignon w/ Lobster Tail
- 8 oz. filets, pan fried w/ garlic and pepper. 8 oz. lobster tails, steamed to perfection, brushed with butter, and accompanied by additional 'dipping' butter
. Served with bruschetta and French loaf.
(Yes, it was pretty amazing, I'm still in bliss
)
And for dessert:
Sweet Pepper Cheesecake
- A combination of cream cheese, goat cheese, and ricotta cheese, sweetened with roasted pequillo peppers throughout. Served with apricot jam, on toasted pita bread brushed with olive oil.
Well, everyone is certainly feeling better, and I haven't even served the cheesecake yet!
My apologies to any hungry readers, I'll be sure to invite you next time! (Maybe
)
I actually snapped a photo or two
, and perhaps I'll post them, but then I'll really be asking for it!
Btw, another thanks to those that offered kind words in the cat thread, your support is invaluable, you guys are great.

Is that a burned eyeball in the center of one of those cuts of "meat"?

The eyeball is a stem of a portabella schroom
YUM! That thrown in with some homeade garlic/romano cheeze breaded chicken breasts / red onions / yellow and red bell peppers / asparagus shoots / a tad bit of butter and summer seasoning = cooking experiment for the night
As nasty as it looks, It WAS going to be good until Sonata had to post this thread boasting of Filets and Lobster

Re: What I fixed for dinner tonight
I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm very glad I made this thread! Most of these posts had me lauging out loud, something I needed.
Sorry Ollie! But hey, I like BBQ!
Jemmer! Nonsense! I'm sure it will be/was good! That big ol' bell pepper in there has
my
mouth watering, even after steak and lobster! (Roasted peppers/tomatoes = heaven) And for those who don't know, portabella's rock!
Your alright Rich *shakes head*
If it's any consolation to you all, the sweet pepper cheesecake was less than stellar. Obviously, it was an experiment in exotic flavors and cooking, and it seems I could have let it cook a little longer, the texture left something to be desired. Keep in mind it's more of a savory dish, intended as an appetizer.
I wish you all could have tasted the batter though, oh man....
And as the Blinx chant continues, hope is very much alive.
You guys are so awesome, thank you. Bon appetite!
