Here are some photos I've taken of mine and my partner's cars. We actually met at a Skyline Australia Show N' Shine event in 2005. 7 years later and we're still together.
My 1990 Mazda Roadster (miata) - supercharged with all supporting mods
...screams like a banchee
My partner's Boxster (2.7L manual)
...and here she is powering down the straight at Eastern Creek International Raceway here in Sydney
My R33 Skyline with GT30R turbo, 770cc nismo injectors, built engine etc etc etc
...and wearing an East Bear vented carbon fibre hood for track days
it's a good thing I don't gig anymore. None of our cars fit any of my gear. Even had to borrow a car to pick up my recent 7 string purchase!
Supercharged-intercooled Toyota Tundra DC, 550hp 600+fp.
The other....
Hayabusa (2 chassis 02 and 07) (multiple engines, depending on class)
1507cc NOS big bore (248hp NA, set up for 100shot)
1300 turbo (550HP+ WHP)
1K (de stroked 1300)
Fiat X19 'H/MS' SCTA
(over 8 time slips over 200mph)
I spun this one over 200 a few years ago!
24' Land Speed Streamliner
Currently in testing, targeting 400mph with 1.3l.
Here is a modeling pic of the liner I used for FEA analysis using Autodesk Algor.
I have a great secret in this regard. I have inherited a collection of cars some years ago.
Porsche 911 '68
Porsche 911 cabrio '75
Porsche 911 cabrio '80
Porsche 911 Turbo '82
Porsche 928S '81
Jaguar E-type convertible '69
Jaguar E-type Coupe '71
BMW CS '71 Silver
BMW 850i '93 Dark Blue
They are all stored in a garage in conservation state (no gas in the tank, completely wrapped in a protective cover and all cars are lifted from the ground). I never use them. I don't sell them either. I just go there once in a while, unwrap one of them, sit there enjoying them, wrap it up again and leave. Not even my mother, sister or best friends know I own these. This I had to promise to the guy who I inherited them from. He was my dad's best friend. It's our little secret.
In my daily life I do no use any cars. Having a car in Madrid is complete madness, and we have an A class subway.
I know what you mean, I use my jems and UVs like what they are, tools. I regard these cars as my insurance if things get rough. I had to make a huge payment last year for their storage for another 10 years. They are my apple for the thirst, if you catch my drift And as such, the best is leaving them where they are and not touching them. If I do that, I'll open Pandoras box. I have driven the 850 like ten years ago or so. The rest has only been driven by the guy who gave them to me.
Subaru WRX STi
Trek Fuel 6.0
Trek Madone 7.7
Yep, I'm big into cycling...which is probably why I don't have more Jems than I do.
If you don't ride I'll just say that the cost of some of them is insane!
+1 a close work mate of mine had one until recently. Very reliable. He basically treated it like crap (didn't service it regularly, didn't wash it regulary) but it kept going, and was strong. Even cleaned up pretty nicely when he went to sell it.
My fondest memory of it was when he came into work telling me he'd locked his keys in the car in the car park. I said, "no worries." and went down to the dock's and asked if they had any of those packing straps (plastic things), and grabbed a long'ish one.
Went out to the carpark to his car, and proceeded to open it up for him. Bent the packing strap in half, and edged it down into the drivers side door (as he shimmied a bit more of a gap open for me), grabbed the boot release with the packing strap loop (why I bent it in half), and popped the boot.
Oh, another one was when I diagnosed a leaky clutch master cylinder for him before he came into work. He called me up, asked him a few questions, got him to take some photos. Told him how to fix it so he could drive it in (buy brake fluid...fill clutch master reservoir...pump clutch pedal with lid off the master...top up clutch master more, etc etc etc...easiest way when you have no tools).
He actually still misses his old Accent. Good little car.
2012 Ford F150, one of the best decisions of my life. Hope to replace next fall with a 2015 or a used raptor. depends how closely the new redesign resembles the Atlas concept.
