when writing material do you become what your writing!

have been working on new stuff. whatever the song is angry,depressed,happy I've seemed to become what I'm writing. very noticeable by people who know me.

I suspect that that phenomenon is common among creative people. The last example I heard of is that Heath Ledger put so much effort into creating the maniac Joker character that it affected his mental health and he became depressed for a while. I don't blame him.
