wireless broadband question

hey all

if just a quick question for the computer buffs here , im able to pick up a wireless network connection from a nearby mountain on my laptop and im able to connect ad hoc to it but if i want to connect to it to access the internet i have to data encryption codes and wireless security password encrytion keys..

so my question is...is there a standard code i could enter that might allow me to log on?

Re: wireless broadband question

Look at it this way:

Imagine your neighbor's wireless network was instead his car, sitting in his driveway with the security alarm turned on. Just because you can see the car from your house doesn't give you the right to disable the security system and take it out for a nice country drive.

Re: wireless broadband question

This is officially illegal in the UK, not sure how Ireland laws work but it's not really worth it.

If you are dead set on trying it just google wep - it's crackable with enough effort but if you can get done for riding an unprotected WiFi - I bet you'd get slapped quite hard for cracking a protected network to ride the WiFi.

No more conversations on how to break the law, or the best way to steal.
