Only made a couple of hundred or so from what i know!
As for Dodge Challengers,i got the Vanishing Point dvd recently, still ain't had a chance to watch it yet!!
Just checked for the M1, try bmwm1.com Apparently about 450 were made, mainly for racing
I thin you are missing the point. We are talking about sport cars normal people can eventually afford (may be a used one).
There is an M1 for sale here in Argentina.
The were several other interesting models of BMW, like the V12 850 that resembles to the M1. They Z8 was also an amazing car, but these are very expensive vehicles.
There is no point comparing a Mustang to a BMW 850, even when the 850 is 15 years old.
I think you can compare the Mustang or the Camaro to the 350Z, the Impereza, the Skyline or may be an Evo. May be you can compare them to an Alfa Romeo GTV or Brera, or an Audi S3 or TT. Even though these import cars are more expensive than the stang (in the USA).
In Argentina for instance, a new Mustang GT costs as much as a new 350Z or a new Alfa Romeo GTV, and slightly more than a Evo (and quite more than the Impereza WRX). So I think they are comparable cars.
In any case, I they give me a choice between a 2005 Mustang or a 2005 Alfa Romeo GTV or a 2005 Audi TT.... I would take the stang. Its just so damn sexy!

btw, andy7jem, Vanishing point is one badass movie! Have fun Watching it.
Again what were you "racing" against???? A Civic with neons?
The 350Z, RX7, Skyline GTR or the EVO would make you feel very sad about the Transam. I even beat an AT transmision Camaro with a Clio Sport.... talk about a lame performance.... 182HP 2.0 litres vs 300HP 5.7litres... I smoke him BEFORE we even had to make a turn.
Less safe? I'm afraid you don't know what you are talking about.
Save some money drive/buy a couple of cars, and then we'll talk again.
I love muscle cars, and I love sports coupes. I dont like sports sedans at all (like the Evo or the WRX). But I dont have a problem admiting that, for instance, a 1996 Evo will smoke a 1996 Mustang, Camaro, or even a nissan 300ZX (just to name 4 cars I actually drove)

Performance is all down to power to weight ratio. The fact that a clio weighs about 4kg has something to do with it! And if you like driving a clio,or think its a "nice" car,i bet you are a hairdresser by profession!

He doesn't drive a clio, he just used it to beat a camaro, that's all. I think he already told us like 5 times that he drives an Alfa and previously a Mustang.

Just tune a Hayabusa and make wheelies up to 155 mph. The new Challenger will be a major disappointment to european drivers when it hits the road in 2009. Here it'll have 0 build quality, drive like a schoolbus, cost as much as an S class Mercedes and suck down more gas than a Cayenne Turbo ofcourse. Seriously I believe it'll achieve a certain cult status here, but with gas at $2 per quart I don't think it'll actually be a succes in Europe. Just like the old musclecars 30 years ago. So many here will probably choose for a Audi TT 1.8 Turbo or something.

Re: Wow new Dodge Challenger
Not even in the US will they be a success. Everyone here is hurting on the pump too and a 5.7l HEMI as nice as it may be doesn't fit anymore in these times, nor should it fit. I think the americans once more are not seeing the trend of time. The Japanese pump out one Hybrid after another, while Ford builds bigger SUVS with MORE power and build in vending machines.

Well as a matter of fact, I owned that Clio for a few months (after I trashed the mustang i needed a car for those few months before I came back to argentina
)
I never said the Clio Sport is a nicer car than the previus mustang, its certainly not! But it certainly performs better.
About the gas price and the bad timming of big engines.... well, I guess this cars are just not going to be used as every day rides.
Its too bad they are so damm expensive in argentina. We never get the american sport or muscle cars (you have to "special order" them, wich ends up costing a lot more, and you get 0 customer support).

Re: Wow new Dodge Challenger
I agree to sell any they HAVE to price it to keep it competitive with the mustang, and with the current problems yet again sending fuel prices high, not a good time for it

You have the exact same car that I had for over 3 years, and the thing can`t make a turn.
The 350Z has 100% better grip, has better brakes, has better acceleration in the 0-60, and has a better top speed. Please explain me how can you beat it?
You cant even beat a 1990 Nissan 300ZX with the 00 Mustang GT. I know, because I owned both.
I currently own an V6 Alfa Romeo GTV, and it outperforms the 1996-2004 4.6 V8 Mustang GT in every concievable way.
Like I said, I have some suspension mods. But even with my suspension mods, I still have spent way less than a 350z. Stock for stock, yeah the Z will outperform the Mustang, hence the higher sticker price. But I spent less than $5k and now beat Z's all the time. Plus I have raced alot.
Now if your alfa romeo V6 is outperforming a V8 Mustang as you say in every way, there is something seriously wrong with the Mustang because the Stang will hand the Romeo its lunch in straight line acceleration.

1999-2004 Mustang GT 4.6 V8: 0-60 in 6.1 secs
1996-2004 Alfa Romeo GTV V6: 0-60 in 6.6 secs (for the 1998 3.0) or 6.1 for the 2003 3.2
http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame...hp&carnum=1074
http://www.diseno-art.com/encycloped...eo_spider.html
http://www.modernracer.com/mustanggt.html
as you can see, the difference is just 0.5 secs in the 0-60 if you compare the 4.6 SOHC 1999-2004 Mustang GT with the 1996-2002 3.0 Alfa. Now, the Alfa has a better at top speed, better handling, better braking distance.
If you compare the Mustang GT with Alfa GTV 3.2, then the 0-60 accelereation is the same (and the GTV has better top speed, better handling, better braking distance, etc, etc, etc).
My GTV is 3.0 but it has a racing muffler so it has about the same acceleration that the 3.2 has.
And about the suspension mods in your 2000 GT.... well that will improve you handling, and may slightly improve your start in a drag race. The 350Z is A LOT faster than the mustang you own (2000), so unless you are a very good driver or you ar racing against an idiot, I dont think a suspension kit is enough. Even so, this should be a comparison between cars, not drivers.
Now, if you have other mods.... well then you are driving a different car than a Mustang GT. You cant compare a stock car with a modded car, regardless of what you spent.
I mean, you could spend 30-50K modding a Mustang, Skyline GTR or a Supra and beat a Ferrari 355 in a drag race.... you would ve spet less money, yet that doesnt make you right if you say the Skyline GTR outperforms the F355.
The muffler cost me 400USd, I could buy a mod chip (for 300USD) for the GTV and reach 5.5s in the 0-60, but I wouldnt say that the GTV has better (or the same) acceleration than even the new 300HP mustang because of that.
Again, I think we should only compare stock cars.
I just made this comments because there were very silly statements on this thread bashing jap and euro sport cars. Since Ive been lucky enough to own at least one of each, I just wanted to give a fair opinion.
We should probably get back on topic, and talk about the Dodge!

RCB, all my opinions were based on looks, which to me is the most important thing because any car can be made to go fast, and you cannot use the full potential of performance cars safely/legally on the roads anyway. So i made justifiable comments based on MY opinions, that i don't like euro/jap cars. They don't make ANY cars that make me think "wow,i want one"!
