Question

Your movie top 5?

Hi everybody,

If you were to list your top 5 favourite all-time movies, what would it be?

I thought it would be a nice idea for everybody who's interested to do post their top 5 here, and then after a week I'll make a poll with the five movies that came up most often in the top 5's here. So that people can vote for their favourite out of those five, so we'd kind of know what the all-time favourite movie of jemsite is.

My top 5 is this:

1-Rear window 1954, Alfred Hitch****
2-Mulholland drive 2001, David Lynch
3-The big lebowski 1998, Joel Coen
4-Reservoir dogs 1992, Quentin Tarantino
5-Eyes wide shut 1999, Stanley Kubrick

Out here in The Netherlands, they fairly often have a 'What is the all-time best film?' election. And just about every time, the winner is either 'The godfather' or 'The lord of the rings'. That's just so lame. There is no best film. It's subjective. Anyways, that aside I wonder what all of you will vote for.

Kind regards,
Myst and rain

Spinal Tap - If you've ever been in a band and havent seen this movie sell your guitar and buy a Coldplay CD
Pulp Fiction - Got me into independant films
Big Lewbowski - The Dude abides
Kicking and Screaming (NOT the lame Will Farrell one) - Another great dialog driven movie
Scarface - In this country first you get the money, then you get the power and THEN you get the women.

Re: Your movie top 5?

This probably changes on a daily basis, but some I really like are:

Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Commando, Usual Suspects, Pirates OTC is pretty good, Van Wilder, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, any no brainer action or comedy. I do enough thinking during the day, movies and books that I read for leisure are very simple and to the point.

Re: Your movie top 5?

The problem with threads like this (for me atleast) is resisting the urge to attempt to reach through the screen and smack some people for their choices, or atleast inform them their taste in movies is awful and they should never be allowed to watch another movie until they learn the error of their ways.

Re: Your movie top 5?

1. Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars
3. Lord of the Rings - Return of the King
4. Event Horizon
5. Jurrasic Park

Spinal Tap would be six. I guess I've seen it 1011 times to many. All of the Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings movies are up there too but I went for some diversity in my list.

Ohhh! I almost forgot. MERLIN, the made for tv movie that was shown as a mini-series years ago.
