Youtube Thoughts

I find there is a downside to youtube. Here is a senario: Say you have a ton of talent but the direction you chose in life was to make music a hobby versus a career. You decide to record a short guitar solo video and place it on youtube. You only put it up there because you thought it would be cool to do and tell your friends and family about. It could be the greatest guitar solo ever. Now, I don't believe you can say there is a greatest guitar solo ever because it's an opinion, but I'm just trying to make a point that I guarantee there will be a few jealous morons the first day leaving feedback saying you basically suck. I've seen a Petrucci video where some kid left feedback saying he sucked! Now, we can all agree that John Petrucci does not suck. He may not be your favorite or the best out there, but he certainly does not suck. I understand that when you chose to place a video on youtube (in Petrucci's case obviously a fan did), you are opening yourself up. However, I think there are some fairly talented musicians, including myself, who will not place a video on youtube because they don't want to be ripped apart or even have freinds and family read comments from people ripping them apart. I think 99% the negative comments I read on there are based on jealousy. Why not have another another version of youtube where there are no comments? Maybe there is already and I don't know about it.

Try yourfilehost dot com. Lots of great videos on there. Some non-porn too.

When commenting on a Hendrix video is just insane, not sure theres a way they can stop this though, some kind of filter?

Nah, just like this site, it would take moderators to police it up. That site is just waaaaay too huge to even think about it.

I know what you mean, It just ridiculous. If you know your not gonna like it, why bother watching all of it and then posting a cheap comment.

just put your vid up, its easy to see the comments from the muppets and disregard them.
ive been in the firing line mate and I didnt lose any sleep.

Since this is somewhat of a youtube thread, i dont feel like making anther youtube thread. so ill ask here:

Why is youtube deleting all the anime shows?? Like bleach and naruto. I know these episodes arent yet available in the us but are available in japan. why can youtube delete these videos?

Does youtube think that japan is going to sue youtube for having new naruto shows that arent in english on youtube???

note: does this make sence?? i can change things if this doesnt make sence.

I've seen some killer youtube videos, and right underneath, retarded comments about how these people suck, and such-and-such is better...

It's just one of those inevitable things that are going to exist.

Just like yesterday when my girlfriend was leaving the grocery store, and she was waving this lady across, and the lady yelled at her "B!TCH!". It's amazing the types of negative people out there...

The spam on Youtube is growing like a cancer. The "now that you've read this, post on 10 other videos in 5 minutes blah blah freakin' blah". I used to see it once in a while but now it's everywhere.

I think the people who used to vote for Sanjaya have nothing else to do but spam videos now

Here is a perfect example. I may not like this instrumental version as much as Hendrix's or Vai's but I do really like the vocals. Regardless, look at the 22 year old moron (I checked out his profile) saying he is better than Clapton in the comments. Even if you don't care for this version, it's still Clapton and he deserves and has earned respect. Oh Jim, I did vote for Sanjaya (just trying to kill Idol), but I don't spam up youtube.
