Herb Peterson, the creator of the Egg McMuffin, shows off his invention in this April 1997 file photo, at one of his McDonald's franchises in Santa Barbara, Calif. Peterson, 89, died in Santa Barbara on Tuesday. In honor of his achievement Mr. Peterson will be formed in a Teflon circle with the yolk broken, topped with a slice of cheese and grilled Canadian bacon. He will be served open-faced on a toasted and buttered English muffin.
