22 or 24 and why
A simple question really, but to explain it.... well it can be hard. What do you prefer; 22 frets or 24 frets, and why.
Myself, 22 all the way. I think 24
fret guitars
lose a bit of their tone.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
I'd have to say 22 for a better, more comfortable feel fret spacing-wise, but 24 for a better tone IMHO.

22, I just don't need the high registers.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
24, i think its more versatile and it gives more space for your hand to move at around the 19th fret

Re: 22 or 24 and why
I had always played 22 frets but once I got a 24
fret guitar
, there's just no going back. I like to have the versatility of the additional frets.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
I love having 24 frets. The two octave thing is a bonus, but I mostly like where it puts the frets.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
I played my old S540 with 22 frets with no problem. Then I bought my Jem and played that for a while. When picked up the Sabre again I found I kept running out of room. I'll take 24 frets.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
24 for sure. it makes more sense musically to have two complete octaves on each string.

Re: 22 or 24 and why
It's got to be 24 frets.
It's like in a recent Guitar Techniques mag, there was a transciption of K'm pee d'u wee and it gets about half through when Guthrie tells you that you need a guitar with at least 24 frets. I don't know why but it really tickled me to think how many people out there were blasting through the tune to get to this part of the song and then be like "D'oh!"

Re: 22 or 24 and why
24
I just feel as though I am missing something without the extra 2. Saying that I do have a few 22 fret guitars that I love, but I wouldn't build or buy anything else, unless it was really special.
My first custom was a 22 fret strat, and I have recently toyed with the idea of recreating it with the full two octaves. Now I am half way through Eugene's Trick Bag I might even go further than that
