Re: 6 or 7
theres no poll first of all
But I prefer 7 for a few reasons:
a.) im not going to lie its fun to chug along on the low b
b.) some chords are easier to grab in certain positions with the added string
c.) the neck fits in my big paws alot nicer than a 6, that extra width feels comfortable to me.
d.) it just looks cool with that wider fretboard
e.) they dont make a 6 string universe

Re: 6 or 7
If your hands are big enough where a wider neck doesn't cause discomfort, the only advantage to not playing a 7-string is that, obviously, the choices of models, pickups, and aftermarket parts are so much greater for 6-strings.

Re: 6 or 7
Sevens all the way. An extra half octave in every scale position, all across the neck (and quite a bit more if you get into position shifts) - it's a no brainer for lead guitar.

7. I have 5 7-strings and 2 sixes that I hardly play, I will always be a 7-string player.

6, because I'm not good enough to play a 7, barely good enough for a 6.

Re: 6 or 7
Six strings. I use a capo sometimes. And you can't hook your thumb over the 6th string anymore if you have 7 strings. You're also less likely to hold a chord shape and arpeggiate notes. Because of these changes in technique, I almost think the multi-stringed guitars are a different instrument. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

Re: 6 or 7
well, with my recent purchase, i would definetly say seven. i play a six, and it feels like its missing something. plus my big hands fit the universe neck very well.

Re: 6 or 7
I'm going to go with 6.
For me, my 7 String is just a novelty guitar that I sometimes use to record with if I need chords/arpeggios I can't get from a 6 string. That's probably my own fault for not taking the time to learn the different scale shapes and theory to get the most from a 7 String. Riding the B string now and again is fun though if nothing else.

I would have to say 6 string, but I am watching 3bay for a deal on 7620.

Another vote for 7, for the simple reason that's it's 6+1.
