7-string trems (read before voting!)

I thought about building a tremolo-equipped 7-string as my first guitar-project. This leaves me wondering which tremolo is best in terms of tuning-stability under use as a first priority, and as a second priority; has a delicate arm-action which allows easy dipping without going out of tune when palm-muting heavily. So, go ahead and vote and give me some advice in the process! Thanks.

Thing is... where can I buy it? It seems to be out of the Ibanez parts catalogue. :/

Good thing to know, but buying from the US gets you robbed, since any savings you might get on the price of the goods themselves are effectively nullified by the shipping and taxes. I made a quick calculation: LoPro + shipping = 395USD at best. Bolt on another 70-75USD worth of taxes and you end up with a ~465USD tremolo, or about 3700SEK, compared to the ~2000SEK of the unit alone.

Who knows where you got your figures from. LP7 shipped Express to Sweden is $315 total. The decision on how much to insure or value it will determine how much you'll pay in customs.

What? You're serious?

....

I calculated like this: 275USD is the listed price for the LoPro7. Tag 120USD shipping onto that. That's now 395USD total. Along with that comes the 25% tax (When I called the customs a year ago on a percentage quote, then told me they added 30% out of the item value, and another 3% onto that), and 25% out of 275USD is 68USD. 395+68=463USD.

Still, if you say it's 315USD, shipping included, I'll definately send you an email when the project gets underway.

Express shipping is $40 [actually $37 but I always round up ]. Customs is whatever you want it to be.

Aaaaaaand just another question. I've heard people say that the OFR7 is the most stable 7-string tremolo. True or not? By the poll's results, it looks like the LoPro7 is the unanimous winner despite the requirements stated by me.
And hey, Rich, does the shipping stay the same if I throw in a couple of pickups as well?

Re: 7-string trems (read before voting!)

There isn't one reason why an OFR7 would be any more stable than a LP7, in fact with the lockers the LP7 should win that test.

I should have mentioned that I was referring to tuning stability after heavy tremolo use, but I assume the LoPro7 would come out on top of that one too?

Yes, it has locking studs by stock unlike the Edge Pro. Stable enough for Mr. Vai.
