Amp for a Jem?
Hey, I got my first Jem a few months ago but I don't have any decent
tube amps
(A solid state 30w Laney, a tiny valvestate Peavy and a valestate Marshall).
I have decided to buy myself a new
tube amp
sometime this year, but I'm not sure what amp would be best for a Jem. I was looking for something with at least 3 channels so that I could have three basic tones instantly at at hand, and something that could stay clean but easily kick into high gain. Although I am not currently in a band, I am hoping to get into one so I need enough power for gigs and I was hoping for between 50-100 watts. I have narrowed it down slightly, and all things considered, I'm not sure what would be the best buy. I'm leaning towards one of the marshalls howevers, as I'm not sure how much money I would be looking at for the Mesa. Any advice?

Re: Amp for a Jem?
Play them all then decide for yourself, personally I wouldnt buy either of them, and 100 watts is overkill for most situations.

Re: Amp for a Jem?
Get a smaller tube amp, then bring up the volume on it. You'll get a better sound than if you used a large one and used a lower volume.

Mesa Boogie F series is a great all around tube amp. It has a great clean sound and an ok contour sound.
They shouldnt be hard to find even though they are out of production.

None of the above.
Cornford MK50 MKII batters all of those amps.

A Cornford would be fantastic, but they are so damn expensive.

Aren't the Express series a continuation of the F-class?
Looks like it to me.

Re: Amp for a Jem?
Wel that's the thing, I'm only going to fork over any cash until I find the perfect amp, and I would rather not have to pay that much. And I will need something that I am going to be able to get here in Australia without too many shipping issues or stuff like that. Hope I'm not asking of too much

Re: Amp for a Jem?
Bring your Jem along when amp shopping. I was about to jump on the JSX bandwagon when I found a Kustom that I loved. You never know.
