Avatars on jemsite
Should we have avatars? I voted yes because i think it would be a cool option. Or maybe give people signatures at 500 and avatars at 1000 posts.

Re: Avatars on jemsite
Avatars yes, signitures no,
My Natalie Portman avatar on other sights would instanty point me out as the "Natalie Jem guy". Sigs are a waste of space really.

Re: Avatars on jemsite
Not a big fan of signatures (mostly the visual ones that usually take up twice as much space as the actual post), but given that the vBulletin forum software hides the homepage link, signatures could be a good idea to link to personal/band weppages.
Avatars are fun, but take time to implement and require webspace/bandwith, unless each of them was to be linked to private webspace, which is an option. I think there must be a good reason why we haven't had them on Jemsite in a very long time though.

i like the idea of a merit-based system. however, there are people who make a point of replying to every post despite having nothing useful to contribute simply because they like to see their name in print.
(you know who you are. do i stink of hypocrisy?)

Re: Avatars on jemsite
^ what he said
Haha i hate when people say that just to get a post.
Or maybe they could include them in part of the site contributor thing. You know, if you donate you get an avatar and maybe just give mods signatures...overall i just wanna spice up the forum a bit and encourage people to join.

Oh... I see.... hmmm, seen that on other sites, where most people put a picture of a Star Wars character or Muppet to be their unmistakable identity. Waste of time and computer energy folks.
