You keep calling me by my name and blowing my cover, Dee. I'm afraid I'm going to have to kill you now. That really sucks too because I liked you alot. Oh well. What must be done must be done I suppose.

I have a predisposition toward a bad back, so I want the guitars to be as light and comfortable as possible.
I once read that John Suhr is really intrigued by maple-capped
basswood guitars
. I think the
Ernie Ball
Axis guitar is maple-capped basswood, but I could be wrong.
korina sounds alot like mahogany but with a little more mids and highs, light weight but great LP style tone. check it out.

Re: best guitar wood?
Basswood gives me that punch that mahogany doesnt, I like to have a deep sound in my guitar but I also like to have a punch when I strum a chord. Alder gives a very nice punch aswell. Its all preference of tone in the end.

Don't fall for the Korina hype...that's so 70s
Real Korina isn't lighter than Mahogany at all...as for the legend surrounding its tone, read this:

Re: best guitar wood?
I like basswood guitars in general, but i like maple capped ones better :P i just dont have one
btw, Korina is more expensive because its a kind of specialist wood, not because its rare, in actual fact its not that rare.
Other than guitars, Korina isnt used for alot i believe and since the guitar trade is a small percentage of wood imports, it costs more because of its avaliablility.
^^^ I learnt that from Ed Romans website, so its probably bull****, but hey

Re: best guitar wood?
Alder with maple top is my favourite, It's got the vintage sound with a bit more treble so it doesn't sound muddy vintage- articulate wood if you ask me.
