Re: British or American Distortion?
I like my distortion to the music I'm playing, genre/ era specific:
60's: Brit
70's: Am
80's: Am
90's: Am
00's: Brit
the distortions developed and changed, mixing tones and levels, changing the overall intensity of the drive. Eg. if i wanna play Libertines i go with brit but for GnR i go american. despite what i say above, i generally like the brittish distortion better

British. I don't mean Marshall British though, since Marshalls were originally meant to sound American, and just sort of found the middle ground. I mean pure undiluted British, like Vox, Laney and Cornford.

Yeah, I quite like vox and laney, never used cornford. I do like the marshall sound, seeing as it suites whatever style you want it to suite and it has a place in the classics. Marshalls can also provide either american or british sounds, and versatility is always a good thing

Oh, i was thinking amps. when it comes to effect pedals, BOSS is the only way to go. I only got a DS-1 and a GE-7 before buying an ME-50, but whatever you use you can't go past BOSS for effects

Even funnier still... I had a GMC Jimmy that I took the grill logo off of, and put a Marshall logo in its place.
Of course, now... I'm a Petaluma, CA. distortion guy.

+1
I've just about always used outboard distortion. The distortion in my combo is noisy when I don't play. You know, you hear 'bzzzzrrrrbzzzzzzchchch' all the time in between notes. When I use my Boss distortion, you can hear a pin drop when I don't play.
As for the whole 'US vs UK distortion' question: I wouldn't know. I've never played on a British amp before. So I really can't vote.

'Radial Tone Bone Classic'? I never heard of that. That's a funny name.

Re: British or American Distortion?
They make a few other ones, a tri mode, a hot british... but I've been happy with this and already have too many dist/OD pedals on my board so I haven;t tried the others

I love pedals. I love the way a lot of them are designed. They really look cool. The first time I plug in a new pedal is always really exiting to me! And then I go on the adventure of discovering all the different sounds that are in there... It fantastic! Just
looking
at all my different pedals I get all exited! With all the little lights...
It's great. I really like the way
Boss pedals
look. With all the fantastic colors... And the
Digitech Whammy
is fantastic too!
Here's the older, black one. The Digitech Whammy II.
They really improved the design of it by making it red, IMO.
This one's looks really cool too.
Kind regards,
